This study shows the results of landslide susceptibility mapping for the southwest region of Quang Nam province using the Weights of Evidence (WoE) model. The input data consists of a landslide inventory and ten influencing factors, i.e., geology, distance to fault, elevation, relief amplitude, slope, aspect, rainfall, soil type, land use, and distance to road.

The use of wood as an industrial raw material has led to development of plantation forestry, in which trees are planted, managed, and harvested as crops. The productivity of such plantations often exceeds that of lessintensively-managed forests, and land managers have the option of choosing specific planting stock to produce specific types of wood for industrial use.

Understanding the processes of displacement and redistribution of soil particles caused by different erosion types is considered an efficient sediment management tool in various scales from the field plot to the watershed. The rainfed agriculture practices on high gradient slopes are one of the main sources of accelerated soil erosion due to the disturbance of soil structure by tillage processes.

Land use and land cover (LULC) information is a fundamental component of environmental research related to urban planning, green infrastructure sustainability and natural hazards assessment. In particular, remote sensing technology has demonstrated a powerful capacity for LULC modelling with a corresponding increase in sensor number and type.

Different types of land use, practices and management can alter biogeochemical cycling of a piece of land by the effect it produces on soil properties. The conversion of forest land to agricultural land and wastelands to forest land use have been in practice from primordial days due to land hunger and reclamation.

Quang Nam province located in the middle of Vietnam, has suffered an increasing drought for many years, this threatens the crop production. Drought severity seems to be added in by land use change from forest to horticultural land but the interactions among drought, land use change and soil biological properties remain elusive in this area.

Earthworms are present in all types of soil. Changes in land use influence populations of earthworms. However, information on the dynamics of earthworm populations in northern Cameroon is not available. This paper highlights the research carried out on the abundance, biomass, and diversity of earthworm populations throughout four types of land use in northern Cameroon. Earthworms were sampled throughout the rainy season in three regions, across pastures, woody savannahs, grass savannahs, and fields, using formaldehyde and hand sorting.

Land resources potential assessment is a valuable method for orienting land use planning in the world as well as in Vietnam. This study aimed to (1) assess land suitability and (2) orient the effective use of agricultural land in the study area. Results indicated that Ham Thuan Bac had 107 land mapping units (LMUs) with 11 main landuse types (LUTs) such as rice, cassava, vegetables, dragon fruit, and other trees. Agricultural land with high (S1) and moderate suitability (S2) for most LUTs was small; however, marginal (S3) and not suitability (N) lands were quite large.

The research objective of the thesis is to analyze the main socio-economic - environmental factors affecting the types of agricultural land use. These factors can be used for building an integrated model to optimize the agricultural land use area and land use allocation. That can help planners to improve the efficiency of land use planning.

Land assessment is a specific requirement for the land use. Land assessment results provide the information on land types and natural conditions (land map units) so that we can evaluate the suitability of the land area for agricultural and non-agricultural use. In agriculture, appropriate crops for the land area are usually designed based on the land assessment data.

Cropping pattern has undergone dramatic changes worldwide due to the eff ects of climate changes and human management activities. Cropping pattern is an major factor contributing to crop yield and food security at local, regional and national scales, and is a critical input data variable for many global climate, land surface, and crop models. Hence for creating annual cropping intensity maps at huge scales, MODIS images have difficulty with mixed land cover types within a pixel.

Low cost technology offers an excellent opportunity to grow high value crops during off-season with maximum input use efficiency. This has special relevance in the present day scenario of shrinking land and water resources. At Precision Farming Development Centre, NAU, Navsari technologies related to protected cultivation have been developed. These comprise of basically low (naturally ventilated) and medium cost (fan pad cooling system) greenhouses, in which former type does not require power supply or cooling mechanism.
