A field experiment was conducted to find out the effect of different growth retardants on yield and yield contributing characters in mango (Mangifera indica L.) cv. Alphonso under Ultra High Density Planting during 2013-2014 at Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (JISL) Farms, in Tamil Nadu. Eleven treatments with different combinations were imposed on five-year-old uniform sized Alphonso trees grown under a spacing of 3 x 2 m.

In this review we have discussed a few important hi – tech practices in the fruit crop mango. The novel techniques that cab be adopted to improve the mango productivity are High Density Planting, fertigation technology under UHDP, mulching, canopy management, using of growth regulators, floral manipulation by application of exogenous plant hormones, induction of off – season flowering, ethylene spray, paclobutrazol and top working of old and senile orchards for rejuvenation. When all these techniques are integrated and practiced, there will be remarkable increase in productivity of mango.

A field experiment was conducted to study the mean incidence of major cotton insect pests during two consecutive seasons i.e. during kharif, 2010-11 and 2011-12 at CICR, Nagpur under high density planting system (HDPS) using different genotypes of G. hirsutum with different spacings. The main objectives of the work was to identify lines of G. hirsutum which have less infestation of major insect pests under HDPS system and to investigate whether the incidence is influenced by plant density.

A research trail was conducted to determine the effect of defoliants on defoliation and yield of cotton. Cotton (Gossypium hirsutum L.) cultivar ‘Suraj’ was planted during kharif 2016 and defoliants were sprayed at 60 boll opening percentage (BOP). A degree day above than 100°C was required after defoliants application for completion of defoliation process and opening of boll. The atmospheric minimum and maximum temperatures of 17.7 and 32.1°C, respectively, were found conducive for inducement of defoliation process.

Field experiments were conducted during the year 2013 and 2014 under ultra high density planting mango at research and development farm of Jain Irrigation Systems Limited, Udumalpet with four years of mango varieties viz., Alphonso, Himampasand, and Banganapalli trees were selected for the study. The spacing of the grafts was 3mx2m with a plot size of 4x8m2 comprising a population of 1667plant / hac. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three mango varieties in the main plot and micronutrients in sub plot treated with seven treatments.
