  • In this study, the gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were synthesized via redox reaction, by using ethylene diamine tetra-acetic acid (EDTA) as a protecting and reducing agent, with tetrachloroauric acid (HAuCl4) as precursor and seed solution. The ultraviolet-visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis) method was utilized to investigated the reaction conditions (the EDTA:HAuCl4 ratio, the amount of seed solution and stirring solution time) at room temperature. The synthesized AuNPs were deposited on the surface of fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) by electrophoresis deposition.

  • SEM and TEM were used to evaluate the surface morphology and microstructure of the fiber membrane. Ultraviolet spectrophotometry was used to detect drug release. A LIVE/DEAD Viability/Cytotoxicity Kit and fluorescence staining were used to detect cell morphology and activity. Alkaline phosphatase and calcium mineralization deposition were used to evaluate the osteoinductive activity of the scaffold. Dynamic mechanical analysis was used to determine the Young’s modulus, maximum load, and maximum elongation of the prepared scaffold.

  • Highly purified mineral oils are used in several pharmaceutical, foods and cosmetics applications. A fast and simple method was developed for the analysis of the total level of residual mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH)in these oils and in the intermediate oils that were sampled during the purification process.

  • Highly purified mineral oils used for the elaboration of pharmaceutical, food and cosmetic products can contain residual mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH). Quantification of the MOAH level as well as detailed characterization of the aromatic species present is important for safety evaluations and for optimization of the purification process.

  • The method is successfully applied for ultrasensitive detection of trace amount benzophenone-type UV filters in environment water samples. It is indicated that the method has the advantages of rapid and efficient enrichment, high sensitivity, and excellent repeatability. Our study extends the application of core-shell mesoporous silica materials and would be of value for pretreatment of trace-amount and complex real samples.

  • The inconsistency of chlorophyll content in rapeseed directly affects the quality of seed, so it is necessary to establish a rapid and nondestructive detection technology of chlorophyll in mature rapeseed. In this paper, the content of chlorophyll in rapeseed samples was determined by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, and the near-infrared spectrum data were collected. The partial least squares regression model of chlorophyll content in rapeseed was established based on hyperspectral technology through first derivative and standard normal variable transformation pretreatment.

  • The presented work demonstrates the preparation of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) via aqueous leaves extract of Ziziphus mauritiana L. (Zm) using hydrazine as a reducing agent. Various parameters such as volume of extract, concentration of hydrazine hydrate, concentration of copper chloride, and pH of the solution were optimized to obtain Ziziphus mauritiana L. leaves extract derived copper nanoparticles (Zm-CuNPs).

  • This review was aimed to find out real life application of noble gas xenon. The noble gas xenon (Xe) occupy the zero group of the periodic table. It is fifth member of noble gas family. It is a colorless, dense, odorless noble gas found in the Earth's atmosphere in trace amounts. Xenon has so many application in real life, viz., in arc lamps in xenon HID (high-intensity discharge) lamp and in high pressure arc lamps to produce ultraviolet light. It is used in instruments for radiation detection, e.g., neutron and X-ray counters and bubble chambers.

  • The analysis of the spectral properties and dynamic evolution of a CME/shock event observed on November 1st 2003 in white-light by the LASCO coronagraph and in the ultraviolet by the UVCS instrument operating aboard SOHO, has been performed to compute the properties of some important plasma parameters in the middle corona below about 2Rx. Simultaneous observations obtained with the MLSO/Mk4 white-light coronagraph, providing both the early evolution of the CME expansion in the corona and the pre-shock electron density profile along the CME front, were also used to study this event.

  • Photodiodes are the simplest but most versatile semiconductor optoelectronic devices. They can be used for direct detection of light in the ultraviolet, visible and infrared spectral regions, and of soft X rays and charged particles. When coupled with scintillators or other converting materials, they are also suitable for the detection of gamma rays and neutrons.

  • TELECOMMUNICATION TRANSMISSION MEDIA In this chapter the characteristics of the media in which the transmission of signals takes place will be discussed. It so happens that we humans basically communicate through speech=hearing and by sight. Human hearing is from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and we can see only the portion of radiation spectrum from about 4:3 Â 1014 Hz (infrared; l ¼ 7 Â 10À7 m) to approximately 7:5 Â 1014 Hz (ultraviolet; l ¼ 4 Â 10À7 m). These communication channels occupy only small portions of the detectable frequency spectrum which has no lower boundary but has an upper...
