Underlying etiology

Psychiatric disorders are multigenic diseases with complex etiology that contribute significantly to human morbidity and mortality. Although clinically distinct, several disorders share many symptoms, suggesting common underlying molecular changes exist that may implicate important regulators of pathogenesis and provide new therapeutic targets.

Primary myelofibrosis is a rare myeloproliferative disorder in middle-aged and old adults and should be distinguished from secondary and reactive causes of bone marrow fibrosis because, in reactive fibrosis, treatment approaches depend on the underlying etiology.

Takayasu arteritis is a rare and chronic granulomatous vasculitis that affects the large vessels. Takayasu arteritis targets the aorta and its branches and is still of unknown etiology. It often affects female patients under 50 years of age. A relationship between Takayasu arteritis and tuberculosis has been suggested for a long time.

Research on learning disabilities and writing disorder, therefore, become important. However, in the Vietnamese context, this field of research is under-researched as very few studies on this topic can be found. Therefore, the present study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of writing disorder in early language education in some important aspects, including epidemiology, etiology, symptoms, and treatments. The study ends with some implications.

Nephrogenic ascites is described as a clinical condition of refractory ascites in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) on renal replacement therapy. This entity was first described in 1970. Many nephrologists do not believe in nephrogenic ascites. The underlying etiologies can be multifactorial including a combination of poor nutrition, inadequate dialysis and ultrafiltration, increased peritoneal membrane permeability, and overall uremia.

Despite increased risk for negative outcomes, cognitive impairment (CI) is greatly under-detected during hospitalization. While automated EHR-based phenotypes have potential to improve recognition of CI, they are hindered by widespread under-diagnosis of underlying etiologies such as dementia—limiting the utility of more precise structured data elements.

This study expands the breadth of congenital muscular dystrophies research landcape and underscores the efficiency of WES in investigating the etiology of this group of heterogeneous diseases. Insight about the underlying genetic causes could contribute to develop a well-timed treatment regimen and help patients make an informed decision about reproductive health.

Current heart failure (HF) treatment is based on targeting symptoms and left ventricle dysfunction severity, relying on a common HF pathway paradigm to justify common treatments for HF patients. This common strategy may belie an incomplete understanding of heterogeneous underlying mechanisms and could be a barrier to more precise treatments. We hypothesized we could use RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) in human heart tissue to delineate HF etiology-specific gene expression signatures.

SigProfilerMatrixGenerator: A tool for visualizing and exploring patterns of small mutational events
Cancer genomes are peppered with somatic mutations imprinted by different mutational processes. The mutational pattern of a cancer genome can be used to identify and understand the etiology of the underlying mutational processes.

DNA replication in trypanosomatids operates in a uniquely challenging environment, since most of their genomes are constitutively transcribed. Trypanosoma cruzi, the etiological agent of Chagas disease, presents high variability in both chromosomes size and copy number among strains, though the underlying mechanisms are unknown.

The prevalence of non-cystic fibrosis (CF) bronchiectasis is increasing in both developed and developing countries in recent years. Although the main features remain similar, etiologies seem to change. Our aim was to evaluate the clinical and laboratory characteristics of our recent non-CF bronchiectasis patients and to compare these with our historical cohort in 2001.

A novel fnding related to bulla and bleb formation in patients with primary spontaneous pneumothorax
Spontaneous pneumothorax is a common problem globally. Bullas and blebs have been implicated in this problem, but the etiology of their formation is unknown. We aim to show the relation between a novel clinical finding, the pulmonary delayed inflation (PDI) sign, and the etiology of bulla and bleb formation in young patients.

Exercise has favorable effects on biomarkers associated with a lower risk of breast cancer, however it is unclear if higher doses of exercise provide additional effects. No clinical trial has systematically examined how different exercise volumes influence the mechanisms underlying breast cancer etiology.

Bitter gourd (Momordica charantiaL.) is an important cucurbitaceous plant in which the deleterious diseases namely vascular wilt, damping off occurs commonly and causes 30 to 50 percent losses in crop. The present investigation was aimed to study the morphological and molecular characterization of disease causing pathogen to understand the etiology of the disease. Survey was conducted at different locations of Coimbatore, Erode and Dharmapuri and samples were collected for the isolation of the pathogen.

Rice crop accounts for nearly a third of the total area under food grains in India and is the staple food for a significant portion of the world‟s population. Widely varying factors influence the growth of rice in different rice growing areas and render the crop susceptible to various pathogenic and non-pathogenic diseases, resulting in extensive damage of grain and straw yield. Bacterial leaf blight disease of rice caused by Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae (Xoo) is a serious menace to rice production in India, besides other rice producing countries.
