A novel frequency domain assurance criterion, called hereby Spectral Assurance Criterion (SAC), is proposed for frequency response analysis of cracked piezoelectric beam under moving load. First, a model of cracked beam bonded with a piezoelectric layer under moving harmonic load is conducted based on the double beam conception and then, analytical expressions of midspan beam deflection (mechanical response) and output charge produced in the piezoelectric layer (electric response) has been established in the frequency domain.

. In this study, an investigation was conducted to evaluate the expression of genes encoding SOS1, HKT1, HAK10, and NHX1 transporters in the leaf and root tissues of two contrasting rice cultivars, salt tolerant DP and salt sensitive IR28, under salt stress of 150 mM NaCl by RT-qPCR approach. RT-qPCR data revealed that the expression of HKT1, HAK10, SOS1, and NXH1 were upregulated at a higher level in the DP cultivar than in the IR28 cultivar in response to salt stress treatment.

Impact of rare and common genetic variation in the interleukin-1 pathway on human cytokine responses
The interleukin (IL)-1 pathway is primarily associated with innate immunological defense and plays a major role in the induction and regulation of inflammation. Both common and rare genetic variation in this pathway underlies various inflammation-mediated diseases, but the role of rare variants relative to common variants in immune response variability in healthy individuals remains unclear.

Single-cell transcriptomics reveals common epithelial response patterns in human acute kidney injury
Acute kidney injury (AKI) occurs frequently in critically ill patients and is associated with adverse out‑ comes. Cellular mechanisms underlying AKI and kidney cell responses to injury remain incompletely understood.

Halophytes not only tolerate to salinity, but also promote their growth under a suitable saline condition (referred to as halophilism). Tetagonia tetragonioides is a halophyte that its growth is promoted by NaCl salinity up to 100 mM, but the mechanism of halophilism has not been elucidated. The present study examined responses in the plant’s growth, photosynthesis, and water uptake under the halophilism condition.

Ebook "Ion channels and plant stress responses" reviews the molecular and physiological properties of ion channels in relation to their functional role in plant stress responses and presents novel hypotheses on mechanisms underlying the encoding and transduction of stress stimuli in plants. This volume focuses on the crucial roles of different types of ion channel in plant stress responses.

Ebook "Metal toxicity in plants: Perception, signaling and remediation" is to present the most recent advances in this field, mainly concerning the uptake and translocation of heavy metals in plants, mechanisms of toxicity, perception of metal and regulation of cell response under metal stress. Another key feature of this book is related to the studies on signaling and remediation processes in recent years, which have taken advantage of recent technological advances including "omic" approaches.

Ebook "Viscoelastic properties of polymers" provides basic information for practical applications, and graduate students in chemistry and engineering will find, in its illustrations with real data and real numbers, an accessible introduction to the principles of viscoelasticity. Viscoelastic behavior reflects the combined viscous and elastic responses, under mechanical stress, of materials which are intermediate between liquids and solids in character.

Glucocorticoids are commonly used in the clinical setting for their potent anti-inflammatory effects; however, significant variations in response to treatment have been demonstrated. Although the underlying mechanisms have yet to be fully understood, this variable response may be a result of alterations in human glucocorticoid receptor (hGR) expression and function.

Bacterial infections are common in postpartum dairy cows. Cortisol level has been observed to increase in dairy cows during peripartum period, and is associated with the endometrial innate immunity against pathogens like E.coli. However, the mechanism underlying how cortisol regulates E.coli-induced inflammatory response in bovine endometrial epithelial cells (BEEC) remains elusive.

Bashbay sheep (Bbs) has a certain degree of resistance to Mycoplasma ovipneumoniae (Mo), however, Argali hybrid sheep (Ahs) is susceptible to Mo. To understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the difference of the susceptibility for Mo infection, RNA-sequencing technology was used to compare the transcriptomic response of the lung tissue of Mo-infected Bbs and Ahs.

Endogenous retroviruses (ERVs), which are responsible for 10% of spontaneous mouse mutations, are kept under control via several epigenetic mechanisms. The H3K9 histone methyltransferase SETDB1 is essential for ERV repression in embryonic stem cells (ESCs), with DNA methylation also playing an important role.
