The methods were surface, surface drip and subsurface drip irrigation with three level of irrigation 100, 80, 60% of potential evapo-transpiration were compared and contour map of soil moisture patterns were analysed for corn in two times; one before irrigation, and other at 48 h after irrigation. The distribution of water in soil profile for potato crop by subsurface drip irrigation system (SDI) studied and it was observed uniform and more yield for all treatments.

  • The reference marker set (30 markers) was used to evaluate the genetic diversity and DNA fingerprinting of 19 standard reference rice varieties. The results showed the similarity coefficient of 19 varieties varied from 0.04 to 0.548. At the genetic similarity coefficient of 0.1, the 19 rice varieties divided into two main groups. Group one included 3 varieties: DH1, DH5, DH13. Group 2 included the remaining 16 varieties. Inside group two, phylogenetic tree divided into two main branches at the genetic similarity coefficient of 0.3.

  • Testing of agricultural sprinklers is necessary to find the optimum field operating conditions with minimum cost while satisfying design water distribution criteria. In the present study two twin-nozzle agricultural sprinklers were tested in field under ten different operating pressures ranging from 1.6 kg/cm² to 3.5 kg/cm². In each experiment sprinkler discharge rate, nozzle pressure, radius of throw, and water distribution pattern around the sprinkler were observed. The average discharge coefficients of the two sprinkler nozzles were determined.

  • For the establishment of the distinctness among 31 accessions of Oryza glaberrima, eight morphological traits following Distinctness, Uniformity and Stability test (DUS) studied. Out of 31 accessions studied, two accessions viz., EC861804, EC861805 were found to be highly distinct as they possessed distinct traits namely purple split ligule, medium green leaves, erect flag leaf, presence of awn along with lodging tolerance indicating their usefulness as donors for crop improvement programmes. Analysis of variance revealed significant differences for all the characters studied.

  • Drip Irrigation Method is the best method that has been used in the world among the other irrigation methods because of its good and high uniformity. This method distributes water to the field using the pipe network and transforms it from the pipe network to the plant by emitters. A field experiment was conducted at experimental farm of college of Technology, G.B.P.U. A & T, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand to evaluate the performance of drip irrigation system installed for okra crop.

  • Drip system of irrigation provides enhanced water use efficiency and water application efficiency up to 90% whereas it is about 70% for sprinklers and 45% for flood method of irrigation. In this method as water is supplied directly to crop root zone through drippers, water losses in distribution and conveyance are far lower than those under flood irrigation. A case study was conducted regarding performance evaluation of drip irrigation system used for growing brinjal in the village Shivpur, district Mungeli in Chhattisgarh.

  • Application of fertilizers plays a vital role in crop production system. The basic performance parameter for a fertilizer distributor was uniformity of distribution over a wide range of conditions. In India traditionally manure was distributed with the help of fork and other mechanical device which was very tedious and slow process. The study of the previous work done on fertilizer applicators shows that manually operated, animal drawn and tractor drawn spreader has been developed in India to achieve uniformity in application with minimum time and drudgery of labor.

  • Gladiolus is a very popular flowering plant grown for its elegant cut spike. Presently, the Gladiolus corms are planted manually which is time and labour intensive process. It also involves considerable amount of drudgery. Till date very little work on mechanized planting of corms has been reported. In order to carry out the panting operation in specific time and to mechanize this operation for Gladiolus crop, a cup-chain type metering mechanism was developed and its performance was evaluated in linear soil bin.

  • The study was conducted at Technology Park (Plasticulture Farm) of CTAE, Udaipur, Rajasthan to evaluate performance of automated and conventional drip system for okra crop during year 2019. The Uniformity Coefficient (CU), Distribution Characteristic (DC) and Emission Uniformity (EU) were found to be highest at the head and decreases with increase in distance along the lateral for both irrigation systems. It was found that the average values of all evaluation parameters except DC, were found to be highest for automated drip system.

  • In hydrologic studies rainfall and soil system are two important considerations. It is always desirable to conduct these studies under field conditions in order to represent actual conditions. Rainfall simulation offers a viable alternative to conduct hydrologic studies under controlled conditions. Various types of rainfall simulators are already available for this purpose, but most of them are fixed type and can be used in a laboratory. In such studies a tilting flume filled with soil is used as the test plot.
