In this research, a number of studies had been conducted on the thermal decomposition and fire behavior of kevlar fiber reinforced polymer composites (CP-KUFR). Unsaturated polyester (UPE) was mixed with fire retardant additives including antimony trioxide (Sb2O3), aluminum hydroxide Al(OH)3, chlorinated paraffin (CPs).

Unsaturated polyester composites reinforced by glass fiber and by hybrid reinforcement glass fiber - lung fiber with cellulose microfiber (MFC) were prepared and investigated. Tensile and flexural strengths of material reached the highest value at polymer composite with 48 %w glass fiber mat and 0.3 %w MFC (208.33 MPa and 243.6 0 MPa), while the highest impact strength reached 212.48 kJ/m2 at composite containing 48 %w glass fiber but 0.5 %w MFC.

In this work short bamboo fibre with dimensions 250µm was used to commute part of glass fibre to reinforce Bulk Molding Compound (BMC) materials based on unsaturated polyester. It was found that the physico-mechanical properties of this material with weight ratio short bambo/glass fibres 34/66 as good as of glass fibre reinforced BMC material of IDI Industrial Dielectrics Inc., USA.

This paper present the results of research on designing mold for vacuum infusion technique for preparation the polymer composite material. Specimens of varrious methods of vacuum technique have been prepared and their mechanical and structural properties have been studied. The results show that material obtained from vacuum assisted technique have a preciously mechanical properties, increased in average 45% in comparison with hand lay up method. The scanning electronic microscopy has been used for investigation on void appearance of composite materials.
