The study was carried out at cotton research area, CCS Haryana Agricultural University, Hisar (India) during 2014 and 2015 kharif season. Fifteen cotton lines (which have maximum diversity) and four testers (which are known as well adapted and high yielding) were crossed in a line x tester mating design in 2014.

The pathogen is adaptable to adverse environmental conditions of widely fluctuating temperatures and relative humidity. It appears in irrigated low land or rain fed upland rice as well as in submerged or deep water rice. Rice was important crop in both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana states and losses due disease was also more. Keeping this in view we are conducting survey in both the states to identify the severity of disease.

Cultivated rice consists of two important ecotypes, upland and irrigated, that have respectively adapted to either dry land or irrigated cultivation. Upland rice, widely adopted in rainfed upland areas in virtue of its little water requirement, contains abundant untapped genetic resources, such as genes for drought adaptation.

Chhattisgarh, the 26th state of the Indian Union came into existence on November 1st, 2000. In Chhattisgarh, maize is a kharif season crop and second most important crop next to paddy in terms of both area and production. The state has got very good potential for maize but the productivity is very low due to cultivation of open pollinated varieties (OPVs) and improper input management practices. The real potential can be realized by the adoption of hybrid maize especially single cross hybrids with full package of practices.

More than one hundred species of nematodes have been reported from upland and paddy rice in many countries (Tab. 1). Their frequency and importance are very variable and, in most cases the existence of a parasitic relationship with rice is probable but has not been demonstrated. Many species of root nematodes have been observed both in dry and irrigaftieldd s but very few species are found in both situations. Several surveys made by the authors in WAefrsitc a have shown that a relatively low number of species are adapted to permanently flooded conditions.
