A 14 year old girl diagnosed with primary biliary cirrhosis, gastrointestinal bleeding, and esophageal varices underwent an assessment of her nutritional status using SGA, BAZ (Body Mass Index for age), and MUAC (Middle Upper Arm Circumference). Prior to transplantation, her SGA score was categorized as C, her BAZ was -1.63 standard deviations, and her MUAC measured 18.5cm.

Cri du chat syndrome (CdCS) is a chromosomal disorder resulting from a deletion in the short arm of chromosome 5. Anatomical abnormalities of the larynx result in a distinctive high-pitched, cat-like cry for which the disorder is named. Typical findings of the syndrome involve the upper airway, cardiovascular, and central nervous system (CNS).

Operating an object by generating stable hand-grip force during static or dynamic posture control of the upper extremities simultaneously is an important daily activity. Older adults require different attentional resources during grip strength control and arm movements. However, the impact of aging and reaching movements on precise grip strength and stability control among older adults is not well understood. This study investigated the impact of aging and reaching movements on grip strength and stability control in both hands of the upper extremities.

Proximal brachial plexus blocks can lead to an extended period of motor paralysis and delay the return of motor function. This could influence patient satisfaction, and extend hospitalizations. The aim of the study is to compare a selective distal nerve block of the arm to a proximal axillary block, both ultrasound-guided, in terms of their motor block intensity of the elbow.

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are among the most common pathologies in the general population. However, research into the prevalence of upper arm MSDs is hampered by a lack of uniformity in case definition, and by the absence of a gold standard for measurement.

Replantation in the upper extremity is a well-established microsurgical procedure. Many have reported patients’ satisfaction and functional measurements. The aim was to investigate the long time consequences as activity limitations in hand/arm, the general health and cold sensitivity after a replantation or revascularization in the upper extremity and to examine if sense of coherence (SOC) can be an indicator for rehabilitation focus.

Patient-rated outcome measures (PROMs) are an important part of clinical decision-making in rehabilitation of patients with shoulder pain. The Disabilities of Arm, Shoulder and Hand (DASH) questionnaire was designed to measure physical disability and symptoms in patients with musculoskeletal disorders of the upper extremity and is one the most commonly used outcome measures for patients with shoulder pain.
