  • Traffic demand forecasting is a crucial step in the process of urban transportation planning, management, and operation. In developed countries around the world, the application of forecasting models is almost mandatory and brings significant benefits. However, in Vietnam, there have been relatively few studies on the application of traffic demand forecasting models.

  • The strategy for sustainable transportation development in Vietnam nowadays is focusing on public transport as the most important and long term solution. Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has been designed and carried out in Hanoi. It will be carried out in Hochiminh city and Danang in the near future. There are issues to be considered.

  • The rapid development in the economy and the urban population in cities in Vietnam in recent years leads to dramatic growth in traffic congestion, noise and air pollution, and environmental degradation. This paper presents a back analysis for the stability of the tunnelling process in the project.

  • Air pollution is getting worse in Viet Nam in recent years, particularly in big cities. The most important source of pollution are traffic and industrial activities. The paper "A Review on Current Status of Urban Air Pollution in Ho Chi Minh city and Ha Noi" reviews air pollution situation in Ho Chi Minh city and Ha Noi. We also recommend policies to tackle the problem: (i) upgrade the national air quality standard, (ii) install systematic and high-quality network of monitor stations, and (iii) remove means of transport that unmet emission regulations.

  • Today, the urban landscape of Hanoi is marked by a massive increase of private vehicles. Cars and motorcycles are filling the streets and make the traffic conditions difficult. In order to reduce congestion, the Vietnamese government plans a Public Transportation System (PTS), which is composed of metro lines and dedicated bus lanes. This paper concludes that technology, i.e. modern means of transport, will be useful if the integration of public transport system into the urban planning is guaranteed.

  • This paper suggests an analysis of urban traffic vehicle routing based on the Dijkstra algorithm optimization that is as a solution to the road selection and optimization under various constraints jointly built in the central metropolitan area. The leading metropolitan area road network's various constraints are to consider the road condition factors and the risk resistance in road planning. The analysis and realization are verified with the geocoding, network topology, and network analysis.

  • The present study sought to clarify the contributions to PM mass of ultrafine, fine (PM2.5), and coarse particles (PM10 – PM2.5) in an urban–industrial area with multiple emission sources. We performed both online measurements of PM at a high temporal resolution and size-resolved offline measurements.

  • A search for a balance between complexity and comprehensibility of the solution led us to the field of multiagent systems. Beliefs-Desires-Intentions (BDI) systems offer useful abstractions for activities of a single selfdriving car and collective intelligence of such vehicles. Indeed, the BDI framework helps to combine two distinct natures of a selfdriving car: its reactiveness and proactiveness. Moreover, the modularity of the resulting architectures for an individual CAV and urban traffic induced by these cars makes the design intelligible and flexible.

  • In this article, the issue of improving the quality of passenger service of urban passenger transport in large cities and megacities on the routes, operating on the Bus Rapid Transit technology, is considered. Quality improvement is achieved by automatic regulation of the movement of each passenger vehicle during the movement on the route after disturbing influences in order to ensure the movement of each vehicle on schedule. As a mechanism for regulating Autonomous traffic, an advanced bus driver assistance system is proposed.

  • Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) are an important group of organic pollutants. They are ubiquitous environmental pollutants generated primarily during the incomplete combustion of organic materials (e.g. coal, oil, petrol, and wood). Emissions from anthropogenic activities are highly responsible for their generation. The demand for processed petroleum products and agricultural produce has exposed our environment to PAH contamination.

  • This study aims to evaluate the differences between PM2.5, PAHs concentration, PAHs species, and their gas/ particle partitioning in an urban background site as opposed to another background site. Saigon zoo was selected as a representative of the urban background site (UBS), and the Can Gio mangrove reserve was selected as the other background site (BS). PM2.5 and gas and particle-phase PAHs samples were collected at the UBS between March 2017 and February 2018, while the samples were collected at the BS for one week in the dry season (April) and in the rainy season (October).

  • Black Carbon (BC) is an important byproduct resulted from the incomplete combustion of biomass and fossil fuels commonly referred to as soot. BC pollution not only contributes to the climate change but also impacts seriously to human health. In Vietnam, due to strong urbanization process, the number of vehicles is increasing rapidly and vehicle emission becomes the major cause of air quality degradation in major cities, including Hanoi. Several studies have been mentioned to air pollutants in Hanoi.
