Seven known compounds, including two neolignans, four lignans, and one flavane were isolated from the methanol extract of Pandanus tonkinenis fruits. Their structures were determined to be ficusal, vladinol F, medioresinol, syringaresinol, lariciresinol, secoisolariciresinol, and luteoliflavan by analysis of MS and NMR data as well as by comparison of their spectral data with those reported in the literature.

A 7 yrs old uncastrated male Labrador retriever dog was presented to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex with a history of frequent vomition, discomfort and anorexia. On Further anamnesis it was found that the dog was frequently voiding urine in small volumes which was followed by few drops of blood. The abdominal radiograph revealed multiple bladder stones with larger one surrounding a urinary catheter. The uroliths were removed through cystotomy and diagnosed as struvite, which is predominantly a resultant of foreign body and urinary tract infection.

This study addresses minimally invasive anesthesiologic and analgetic approaches for stone surgery in the upper urinary tract. Aim of this retrospective analysis is to compare feasibility, safety and complication rates of percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) under local infiltration anesthesia alone (Group I) and additive intravenous analgetics and/or sedative medications (Group II).

In this review, the clinical manifestations of urinary schistosomiasis are displayed from a pathogenetic perspective. According to the prevailing host’s immune response profile, urinary schistosomiasis may be broadly categorized into cell-mediated and immune-complex-mediated disorders. The former, usually due to Schistosoma haematobium infection, are attributed to the formation of granulomata along the entire urinary tract. As they heal with excessive fibrosis, they may lead to strictures, calcifications and urodynamic abnormalities.

An in-depth comprehension of the epidemiology as well as pathophysiology of uric acid urolithiasis is important for the identification, treatment, and prophylaxis of calculi in these patients. Persistently low urinary pH, hyperuricosuria, and low urinary volume are the most important factors in pathogenesis of uric acid urolithiasis. Other various causes of calculus formation comprises of chronic diarrhea, renal hyperuricosuria, insulin resistance, primary gout, extra purine in the diet, neoplastic syndromes, and congenital hyperuricemia.

Urinary glycoproteins are important inhibitors of calcium oxalate crystal-lization and adhesion of crystals to renal cells, both of which are key mech-anisms in kidney stone formation. This has been attributed to glycosylation of the proteins. In South Africa, the black population rarely form stones (incidence

Urology is currently the most rapidly expanding surgical superspecialty. The reason for this exponential propulsion of this field, especially over the last two decades, is the dual role of scientific breakthroughs and the successful coupling of engineering and technology for diagnostics and treatment. The role of minimally invasive approaches to surgical extirpation and reconstruction has been unprecedented and paramount. Not only is there rapid development within each substrata of urology but these developments are continuously evolving....

Some urinary tract disorders rarely cause symptoms until the problem is very advanced; these include kidney failure, tumors and stones that do not block urine flow, and some low-grade infections. Sometimes, symptoms occur but are very general and difficult for the doctor to connect to the kidney. For example, a general feeling of illness (malaise), loss of appetite, nausea, or generalized itching may be the only symptoms of chronic kidney failure. In older people, mental confusion may be the first recognized symptom of infection or kidney failure. ...
