Incidence of urinary tract infection (UTI) among antenatal patients attending tertiary care hospital
The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of urinary tract infection among patients attending our hospital viz., Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre. Urinary tract infection is very common, more than 10 million cases per year in India. The study was conducted among the pregnant women attending the Shadan Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre Hyderabad, from the period January 2016 to December 2016.

Urinary tract infection is one of the most frequently seen medical complications in pregnancy. Related to it further a number of complications such as acute and chronic pyelonephritis, hypertension, prematurity, intrauterine growth retardation and increased perinatal mortality. The detection of bacteriuria allows an approach to be made for the prevention of complications in pregnancy at an early stage. In view of the above, the present study was under taken with an aim to detect asymptomatic bacteriuria in pregnancy. Two hundred antenatal women were included in the study.

Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common human bacterial infection in the community as well as in hospital settings (Vijaya Swetha et al., 2014). Urinary tract infection during pregnancy may cause complications such as pyelonephritis, hypertensive disease of pregnancy, anaemia, chronic renal failure, premature delivery and foetal mortality (Moyo et al., 2010).

This study was a prospective descriptive cross sectional study conducted in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kosti teaching hospital, from January to March 2017. A total of 192 pregnant women with no symptoms and signs of urinary tract infection were enrolled in the study.

The objectives of this study were to assess hygiene and wash practices and the associated factors of urinary tract infections in non-pregnant women, Odisha, in order to find this a cross-sectional study was carried out at Bhubaneswar, Capital Hospital from March 2015 to March 2017 in non-pregnant women of age group between 20-65 years.
