The environment and its management has been, and continues to be a very topical issue. Existing environment and development texts place emphasis is on listing problems, making warnings and voicing advocacy, but by focusing on environmental management, this informative book offers a very different perspective.

Manually curated variant knowledgebases and their associated knowledge models are serving an increasingly important role in distributing and interpreting variants in cancer. These knowledgebases vary in their level of public accessibility, and the complexity of the models used to capture clinical knowledge.

The advancement of single-cell sequencing has progressed our ability to solve biological questions. Cell type annotation is of vital importance to this process, allowing for the analysis and interpretation of enormous single-cell datasets. At present, however, manual cell annotation which is the predominant approach remains limited by both speed and the requirement of expert knowledge.

To automatically recognize self-acknowledged limitations in clinical research publications to support efforts in improving research transparency. To develop our recognition methods, we used a set of 8431 sentences from 1197 PubMed Central articles. A subset of these sentences was manually annotated for training/testing, and inter-annotator agreement was calculated.

In this paper, we build a model to evaluate and select an effective and reasonable set of semantic labels from 3 commonly used sets of semantic labels: LLOCE (Longman Lexicon of Contemporary English), LDOCE (Longman Dictionary) of Contemporary English) and WordNet. And then, select the appropriate set of labels, apply it to automatic semantic labeling systems for Vietnamese, help eliminate semantic ambiguity, and support automatic translation, automatic question-and-answer systems efficiently.

In this paper we present IntroMap, a bioinformatics pipeline for the screening of candidate plants through the application of signal processing techniques to NGS data, using alignment to a reference genome sequence (annotation is not required) that shares homology with the recurrent parental cultivar, and without the need for de novo assembly of the read data or variant calling.

Semi-automated genome annotation methods such as Segway take as input a set of genome-wide measurements such as of histone modification or DNA accessibility and output an annotation of genomic activity in the target cell type. Here we present annotations of 164 human cell types using 1615 data sets.

Single-cell RNA-sequencing (scRNA-seq) allows studying heterogeneity in gene expression in large cell populations. Such heterogeneity can arise due to technical or biological factors, making decomposing sources of variation difficult. We here describe f-scLVM (factorial single-cell latent variable model), a method based on factor analysis that uses pathway annotations to guide the inference of interpretable factors underpinning the heterogeneity.
