Uterine cervix

Uterine inversion is a clinical condition characterized by the folding of the uterine fundus into the uterine cavity or beyond the cervix. Chronic uterine inversions that manifest seven years after delivery are extremely rare, despite the fact that both acute and chronic uterine inversions are infrequent.

In many middle-income countries, cancer incidence and mortality are rapidly increasing, but data for developing a strategy of cancer control are rarely collected or analyzed. This study aimed to identify factors associated with positive cancer screening for the uterine cervix and breast in Jakarta Province, Indonesia.

In the presence of the uterus, it is rare that vaginal intraepithelial neoplasia (VAIN) alone exists. We described our experience with a case in which VAIN3 was found in the vaginal fornix without lesions in the uterine cervix. She had cervical intraepithelial neoplasm (CIN) 1 several years ago.

We report a case in which a polypoid lesion with a diameter of 5 mm was diagnosed as a cervical polyp due to a negative Papanicolaou (Pap) smear in the cervix, and polypectomy revealed a diagnosis of villoglandular papillary adenocarcinoma (VGA) on histopathological examination. A 63-year-old woman with a cervical polyp, who had no abnormal symptoms and a negative Pap smear was referred to our hospital.

Adenosarcomas are biphasic neoplasms that usually originate in the uterine corpus and comprise a benign epithelial component and a malignant stromal component. Uterine adenosarcomas typically present with abnormal genital bleeding, an enlarged uterus, and a tumor that protrudes into the endometrial cavity.

CXCL1 belongs to a member of the ELR+CXC chemokine subgroups that also known as GRO-alpha. It has been recognized that several types of human cancers constitutively express CXCL1, which may serve as a crucial mediator involved in cancer development and metastasis via an autocrine and/or paracrine fashion.

Thymidine kinase 1 (TK1) is a proliferation biomarker that has been found useful for prognostication in cancer patients. Here we investigate for the first time the use of TK1 expression as a prognostic factor for patients with premalignant and malignant lesions of the uterine cervix.

NQO1 (NAD(P)H: quinone oxidoreductase-1), located on chromosome 16q22, functions primarily to protect normal cells from oxidant stress and electrophilic attack. Recent studies have revealed that NQO1 is expressed at a high level in most human solid tumors including those of the colon, breast, pancreas, ovaries and thyroid, and it has also been detected following the induction of cell cycle progression and proliferation of melanoma cells.

Papillary squamous cell carcinoma (PSCC) of the uterine cervix is difficult to diagnose due to its rarity and limited data regarding its clinical behavior. We attempted to assess the degree of stromal invasion using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and evaluate possible treatments for this lesion in view of its clinical behavior.

Follicular dendritic cell sarcoma (FDCS) is a rare mesenchymal tumor that mostly occurs in systemic lymph nodes. FDCS in the uterine cervix has not yet been reported. Case presentation: A 49-year-old woman was referred to our department with a cervical tumor, which was histologically suspected to be undifferentiated carcinoma.

There is significant evidence that severe tumor hypoxia may cause resistance to chemoradiotherapy and promote metastatic spread in locally advanced carcinoma of the uterine cervix. Some clinical investigations have suggested that high expression of hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) and/or its target gene carbonic anhydrase IX (CAIX) may be useful biomarkers of tumor hypoxia and poor outcome in cervical cancer.

The present case report explains a case of dystocia due to ringwomb and its treatment in an adult Corriedale ewe, which was presented to the clinic with a history of straining and dystocia. Clinico-vaginal examination revealed cervix with 2 finger dialation, intact fetal membranes and two live foetuses. Taking into account the time from initiation of parturition, size, number and the life of the fetuses, it was decided to perform caesarian section to deliver both the fetuses alive.

Torsion of uterus is a common form of maternal dystocia in bovines. Both maternal and fetal causes are attributed to the etiology of uterine torsion. The entire length of pregnant uterine horn rotates on its longitudinal axis to the left (anticlockwise) or right side (clockwise) along with uterine body, cervix and cranial vagina mostly. In severe cases of uterine torsion, there is vascular compromise to foetus resulting in death of fetus in utero.

Epithelial cell adhesion molecule (EpCAM) is a promising biomarker for squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the uterine cervix, because it is over-expressed in various cancers of epithelial origin. However, EpCAM expression reported in previous immunohistochemistry (IHC) studies was inconsistent.

This study was conducted to analyse the incidence of various lesions of uterine cervix, inflammatory as well as malignant and to find the age group of patients who can benefit from this screening. Smears were collected from325 patients in the age group 20 to 70 years, between July 2014 to December 2016. These patients complained of white discharge, pain abdomen, post menopausal bleeding and mass per vagina. The slides were fixed in 95% ethyl alcohol, and stained with PAP stain. The slides were screened according to 2001 Bethesda System by two cytopathologists.

This study aimed to explore the involvement of carbonic anhydrase 9 (CA9) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the development of invasive cancer of uterine cervix for Taiwanese women. Ninety-seven patients with cervical invasive squamous cell carcinoma and 88 with preinvasive squamous cell lesions as well as 324 control women were recruited.
