Vaginal mucus

A successful case of Dystocia due to fetal Arthrogroposis in non discript Sheep of a three year old multiparous nondescript sheep was presented with the history of full term gestation and water bag had ruptured one hour before with no further progress but the animal was straining. On vaginal examination, vaginal mucus membrane was pale, cervix was fully dilated and the fetal limbs were in birth canal. The presentation of fetus was posterior longitudinal, position was dorsosacral with flexed knee joint of right limb. Antibiotic and anti-inflammatory was continued for successive five days.

The present study was carried out for the isolation, identification and molecular characterization of Brucella species. A total of 50 samples were collected from cattle and buffalo suffering from abortions and other reproductive disorders in and around Ludhiana, Punjab. Out of the 50 samples of fetal stomach contents (25), uterine discharges (10), vaginal mucus (8) and placenta (7) processed for isolation of Brucella of which a total of four isolate were obtained and identified biochemically. All the 4 isolates were typed as biotype 1.

A study was carried out on vaginal secretions/aspirates from infertile (acyclic and endometritic) crossbred cows from field and healthy cyclic as well as pregnant crossbred cows of University farm to identify the vaginal microorganisms based on routine cultural examination. The work was carried out on total 36 crossbred cows covering six each regular cyclic (proestrus, estrus, metestrus, diestrus), acyclic, endometritic and 3, 6 and 9 months pregnant animals.

Leukorrhea is a usually whitish vaginal discharge that may occur at any age and affects virtually all women at some time. Although some vaginal discharge (mucus) is physiologic and nearly always present, when it becomes greater or abnormal (bloody or soils clothing), is irritating, or has an offensive odor, it is considered pathologic. Pathologic discharge is often coupled with vulvar irritation. Commonly, the pathologic conditions are due to infection of the vagina or cervix.

Inspection of the vulva and perineum may reveal tender genital ulcerations (typically due to HSV infection, occasionally due to chancroid) or fissures (typically due to vulvovaginal candidiasis) or discharge visible at the introitus before insertion of a speculum (suggestive of bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis).
