Variable milk yield
-
Milk yield for Holstein cows has doubled over five decades due to genetic selection and changes to management, but the molecular mechanisms that facilitated this increase are mostly unknown. Epigenetic modifications to the cattle genome are a plausible molecular mechanism to cause variation in milk yield and our objective was to describe genome-wide DNA methylation patterns in peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) from mature Holstein dairy cows with variable milk yield.

Monthly data of 4 cows of Jersey and 4 cows of Holstein Friesian crossbred cows on milk yield of seven lactations and for different months were analyzed for the present study which were collected from Dairy Farm of Dr. Yashwant Singh Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry NauniSolan, Himachal Pradesh. Different variability parameters were estimated separately for both cross breeds and also the stability analysis was carried out to study the performance of different lactations and months with respect to milk yield.

Protein-lipid film is a very popular food material which can be prepared from various protein foods. A remarkable example of the protein-lipid film is a traditional soybean food which is a cream-yellow bland flavoured surface film of high nutritional value (soy protein-lipid film, designated as Yuba or soymilk skin), which is formed during the heating of soymilk. The protein digestion rate of the protein-lipid film is almost 100%.
