Enhancement in phosphorus (P) efficiency of crop plants require a better understanding of alterations in root architecture phenes and physio-biochemical processes under phosphorus deprived condition. This study analyzed the morpho-physiological and biochemical alterations associated with P efficiency of crop. Six pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp] genotypes (AL1758, AL1817, AL201, H005, ICPL93081, and ICPL88039) were tested under two P treatments [P fertilizer not added in soil and recommended dose of P (Single Super phosphate @ 250kg/ ha)].

A field experiment was conducted during kharif, 2015 at College of Agriculture, V. C. Farm, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. The experiment comprised of thirteen treatments consisting of three levels of phosphorus (75, 100 and 125% of recommended dose) and various phosphorus biofertilizers and Plant Growth Promoting Rhizosphere (PGPR) and their combinations. The experiment was laid out in RCBD with three replications.

Study was conducted to evaluate soil fertility status in the four different tasar growing regions in Banka District of Bihar and Dumka District of Jharkhand. A total of 75 surface soil samples (0-30 cm) were collected from the fields of primary tasar food plants (Terminalia arjuna and T. tomentosa) along with the details regarding farmer’s name, land type, fertilizer details, geo location, etc. The collected samples were air dried, sieved and analyzed for various soil fertility parameters such as pH, EC, organic carbon, macro and micro nutrients etc.

Spatial distribution of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium were studied from 99 coconut farmers covering 195 acres representing different irrigation situations in Chikkapattanagere of Chikkamagaluru district, Doddaghatta of Davangere district, Siriyur of Shivamogga district and Madhure of Chitradurga district of Karnataka state, India. The gardens selected were aged 20-25 years with varying management levels.

A field experiment was carried out to find out the response of onion to individual and combined inoculation of vesicular arbuscular mycorrhiza (VAM) and phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) under different levels of phosphorus (P) at FOA Wadura Sopore, Kashmir. The results revealed that, combined inoculation of onion with VAM and PSB significantly increased all the examined parameters during the study as compared to control as well as to their individual inoculations even when the P inoculation was reduced to 75 and 50 % of the recommended dose.

Field experiments were conducted during 2017-18 and 2018-19 in sandy loam soils of Tirupati (AP) to evaluate the direct and residual effect of organic and inorganic sources of nutrients on soil microbial population and yield of cowpea-little millet cropping sequence. Three levels of organic manures (no organic manure, FYM @ 5 tonnes ha-1 and poultry manure @ 2 tonnes ha-1 ) and 3 phosphorus levels (0, 40 and 60 kg P2O5 ha-1 ) applied to preceding cowpea and 3 graded levels of nitrogen viz., 0, 10 and 20 kg ha-1 applied to succeeding rabi little millet.

The field experiment was conducted on “Effect of silicon and sulphur on yield and chemical composition on rice and its residual effect on wheat in loamy sand soil” during the kharif and rabi seasons for two years 2016-17 and 2017-18 at Regional Research Station farm, Anand Agricultural University, Anand (Gujarat). Greenhouse experiment was conducted to assess the soil biochemical change patterns in soils of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus (AMF)-inoculated and uninoculated maize plants fertilized with varying levels of P and Zn. Soil samples were collected for mycorrhizal spores, microbial communities, available micronutrients and phosphorus (P) contents besides organic and biomass carbon (BMC), soil enzymes and glomalin. Major portion of Fe and Zn fractionations was found to occur in the residual form.
