Using various chromatographic methods, five compounds, including three flavone C-glycosides: i) Isoviolanthin; ii) Isoorientin; iii) Isovitexin; iv) Two megastigmanes excoecarioside A; and v) Corchoionoside C were isolated from the leaves of Tinospora sinensis (Lour.) Merr. Their structures were identified based on spectroscopic methods and comparisons with those reported in the literature.

A new, rapid, and sensitive gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS) method was developed for the determination of ezetimibe (EZE) in human plasma. EZE was derivatized prior to GC-MS analysis. Various derivatization techniques such as acetylation, methylation, and silylation were tried. EZE was extracted from plasma with high recovery (94.39%–97.57%) using methyl tertbutyl ether and carbonate buffer (pH 9). Chromatographic conditions were optimized using chemometric methods.

Bridelia micrantha commonly known as coastal golden leaf is a member of the family Phyllanthaceae. In preliminary studies, nine fractions, named F1- F9, were obtained by fractionating the crude methanol extract of the stem bark of Bridelia micrantha using column chromatographic techniques. The F6 fraction was found to be the most active when tested for the antibacterial activity. This study is thus aimed at investigating the effect of fractionation on antibacterial activity of F6 fraction.

This study entails a continuation of the phytochemical study regarding the lichen Usnea baileyi collected in Lam Dong province. Eight compounds, 8'-O-methylprotocetraric acid (1), protocetraric acid (2), virensic acid (3), subvirensic acid (4), barbatic acid (5), diffractaic acid (6), 4-O-demethylbabartic acid (7), and atranorin (8), were isolated using various chromatographic methods. Their chemical structures were elucidated through spectroscopic analysis as well as through a comparison of their data with that in the literature.

Ionic methods of separation have been used since the industrial revolution in Europe to reduce hardness of water. In the mid-nineteenth century, British researchers treated various clays with ammonium sulfate or carbonate in solution to release calcium. In the early twentieth century, zeolite columns were used to remove interfering calcium and magnesium ions from solutions to permit determination of sulfate. Ionic separation procedures were used in the Manhattan project to purify and concentrate radioactive materials needed to make atom bombs.
