Ebook The families and genera of vascular plants - Volume XIII: Flowering plants, monocots (Poaceae)
Ebook "The families and genera of vascular plants - Volume XIII: Flowering plants, monocots (Poaceae)" is the outcome of a modern phylogenetic analysis of the grass family based on multiple sources of data, in particular molecular systematic studies resulting from a concerted effort by researchers worldwide, including the author. In the classification given here grasses are subdivided into 12 subfamilies with 29 tribes and over 700 genera. The keys and descriptions for the taxa above the rank of genus are hierarchical, i.e.

The structure and development of successive cambia and its products were studied in the stems of the halophyte Sesuvium verrucosum Raf. The young stem has several collateral vascular bundles arranged in a circle and separated by interfascicular zones. The secondary thickening begins with the differentiation of fascicular and interfascicular cambia which give rise to secondary xylem, phloem and lignified cells.

Salvadora oleoides Decne. (Salvadoraceae) is a facultative and mesomorphic xerophyte, well adapted to arid and semi-arid regions. Twelve populations were selected from different ecological regions of Punjab to investigate structural modifications that are essential for water conservation, by either improving water-storing capacity or preventing water loss from the plant body, hence, enabling this species to cope with environmental extremities. We observed significant plasticity in structural features, which ensures ecological success in a variety of environmental conditions.

Vascular plant species and plant communities in mangrove forest in Dong Long commune, Tien Hai district, Thai Binh province. To support the restoration and development of mangrove forest, we need to determine the composition of plant species, their association, communities, and their distribution in mangrove forest. From that, we gain an overview about the rules of changing in the structure of mangrove forests and also mangrove forest succession. This is the basictechnical solution to develop mangrove community hererin.

This article describes the difference of morphological and structural characteristics of the roots of Calamus plants growing in those two relatively distinct environments. The result showed that the roots of Calamus express the general characteristics of monocots; there was no secondary growth; the vasculation of the pillar demonstrated many differences to that of a general monocot.
