Whitefly is a serious pest of chili pepper that could cause direct damage on the plant or serve as carrier of viral diseases. A study was conducted at the experimental farm of the Crop and Ecosystem Management Unit of AVRDC-The World Vegetable Center in Tainan, Taiwan, to evaluate the effects of nylon net as physical barrier and pyriproxyfen, an insect growth regulator (IGR), alone or in combination on controlling whitefly and yield of chili pepper.

The aphids (Homoptera: Aphididae) are one of major pests of agriculturally important crops, including vegetables, across the world. They suck plant sap, cause leaf curling, yellowing and stunted growth of the host plants. They also act as vectors of many viral diseases in plants. The incidence of insect pests and natural enemy population was studied at Main Agricultural Research Station (MARS), Dharwad, University of Agricultural sciences, Dharwad. In sunflower ecosystem 14 insects pest and 10 natural enemies (Predators) were recorded during the study. The Amrasca biguttula biguttula (Ishida) population was higher during vegetative to reproductive stage of the crop and peaked at 43rd and 46th SMW respectively, during 2015 and 2016. There was a significant and positive correlation between leafhopper population and maximum temperature.
