The project develops an IoT system prototype that can reduce the risks of traffic accidents through a continuous monitoring of parameters during participation in traffic by vehicles. The system integrates sensors, including gas sensors (detection of alcohol concentration), vibration sensors (detection of accidents), and infrared sensors (detection of the seat belts). In case of any accident, the system can send warnings and location information to the relevant systems.

So far, hybrid-testing research has centered on dry-mill production, the lower investment technique of choice for the new cooperatively owned plants. The seed companies are targeting their incentive programs on dry mills. Monsanto’s program, “Fuel Your Profits,” provides the participating ethanol plant with high-tech equipment that profiles the genetics of incoming corn and is calibrated to maximize ethanol yield (Rutherford). As an incentive, Monsanto gives rebates on E85 vehicles (those designed to run on 85%-ethanol fuel) and fueling stations.

Other participants from key agencies were instrumental in setting up some of the practical aspects of the workshop. This included the strategic placement of posters, display of juvenile fish in aquaria, organisation of vehicles and accommodation and the preparation of ingredients and feed making facilities at HAQDEC. As far as possible, hand-outs and other workshop materials were prepared and shipped in advance from NSW DPI Port Fisheries Centre (PSFC). NSW DPI also provided two computers and an electronic projector for use at the workshop.

Carsharing (or short-term auto use) provides a flexible alternative that meets diverse transportation needs across the globe, while reducing the negative impacts of private vehicle ownership. Although carsharing appeared in Europe between the 1940s and 1980s, it did not become popularized until the early 1990s. For nearly 20 years, there has been growing worldwide participation in carsharing. Today, carsharing operates in approximately 600 cities around the world, in 18 nations, and on four continents. Malaysia is operating a carsharing pilot, with a planned launch in late-2006.

Work on the Vehicle Repair Rule (previously entitled Vehicle Standards Compliance (Repair)) was initiated in early 1993 with a call for industry suggestions on what the rule should contain and achieve. A working party, comprising representatives from the insurance industry and from the vehicle repair, manufacturing, importing and in-service inspection industries, was established to discuss the proposed rule in June 1993. It was initially convened by the Land Transport Safety Authority (LTSA) but was subsequently run by its own convenor with the LTSA as a participant.

These param- eters include belt anchor location, buckle size, and type of retractor and latchplate.
