The chromosome numbers of 10 Veronica L. species belonging to sect. Alsinebe (Griseb.) Lehm. and sect. Beccabunga Griseb. from northern Iran are given. The chromosome numbers for 3 of the 10 studied taxa, i.e. V. siaretensis E. Lehm., V. ceratocarpa C.A.Mey. (2n = 14) and V. hederifolia L. (2n = 36) are presented for the first time. Our results are compared with previous records.

SEM of the seed coat was studied in 41 taxa of the Plantaginaceae sensu lato. The study included 31 taxa of Plantago L. and 10 taxa that were formerly assigned to the Scrophulariaceae, representing the genera Antirrhinum L., Digitalis L., Linaria Mill. and Veronica L. The obtained data were analysed by the NT sys-PC program package using the UPGMA clustering method.

This paper describes a floristic study on Kirmir valley, between Güdül and Yeflilöz district, in Ankara province. The study was carried out during 2000-2003 and 1040 vascular plant specimens were collected. Four hundred and forty-eight wild taxa belonging to 266 genera and 74 families were determined.

The vascular flora of the central part of the Abant Nature Park (Bolu, Turkey) was assessed during 1994-1995. Plants (1440 specimens) were collected from the research area and by the evaluation of them and the relevant literature it was determined that there are 664 species in the area including 150 subspecies and 67 varieties, belonging to 84 families and 332 genera.

Two species of Veronica L., i.e. V. kopetdaghensis B.Fedtsch. ex Boriss. and V. filiformis Sm., are illustrated and recorded as new records for the flora of Iran.
