In this study, we evaluated whether bacteria can utilize the prebiotic present in soybean meal and determine the prebiotic index and activity score of the soybean meal by the newly isolated probiotic, Bacillus velezensis BS. The effect of soybean meal-containing medium on the growth, digestive enzyme secretion, and pathogenic resistance of the B. velezensis BS were also examined.

Vibrio species are the major food borne pathogens commonly associated with aquatic food poisonings and lead to food-borne outbreaks. In this present study, out of 105 fresh water fish (Catlacatla) samples collected, 87 (82.85%) were found positive for Vibrio species. Out of 87, 6 (6.9%), 2 (2.3%), 4 (4.6%) and 3 (3.45%) isolates were found to be V. parahaemolyticus and V. vulnificus, V. alginolyticus and V. cholerae respectively by mPCR. The 15 different Vibrio species were subjected to antibiogram studies including ESBL detection.

The experiment was conducted to determine the effects of L. plantarum, P. pentosaceus, and L. fermentum supplemented diet on survival, resistance to AHPND in white leg shrimp. The experimental results showed that the density of Vibrio spp. in the gut lumen of shrimp was significant decreased during the experimental period in the treatments of which the lactic acid bacteria (LAB) used as supplemented diet and without challenged with Vibrio parahaemolyticus.
