  • This paper assessed impact of dilution on the microstructure and properties of the Ni alloy In 625 deposited by Plasma Transferred Arc (PTA) on two substrates: carbon steel API 5LX70 (API 5L) and stainless steel AISI 316L. Differences due to the interaction with the substrate were maximized analyzing single layer coatings, processed with three deposition current: 120 A, 150 A and 180 A. Dilution was determined by the area ratio and Vickers hardness measured on the transverse section of coatings.

  • A hybrid process combining the turning-burnishing operation is a prominent solution to improve productivity due to the reduction in the auxiliary time. The objective presents a parameter-based optimization of the compressed air-assisted turning-burnishing (CATB) process to enhance the Vickers hardness (HN) and decrease the roughness (SR). The inputs are the cutting speed (V), depth of cut (a), feed rate (f), and ball diameter (D). A turning machine was used in conjunction with the turning-burnishing device to perform the experimental runs for aluminum 6061.

  • The aim of the present study was extended from obtaining information about the interaction of gamma rays with Makrofol DE 7-2 track detector to introduce the basis that can be used in concerning simple sensor for gamma irradiation and bio-engineering applications. Makrofol polymer samples were irradiated with 1.25 MeV 60Co gamma radiations at doses ranging from 20 to 1000 kG y. The modifications of irradiated samples so induced were analyzed using UV–vis spectrometry, photoluminescence spectroscopy, and the measurements of Vickers’ hardness.

  • The relative density and Vickers micro-hardness of W-K-TiC alloys was enhanced with TiC addition and the highest Vickers micro-hardness is 731.55. As the TiC addition increased from 0.05 to 2 wt%, the room-temperature tensile strength raised from 141 to 353 MPa. The grain size of the W-K-TiC alloys decreased sharply from 2.56 mm to 330 nm with the enhanced TiC doping. The resistance to thermal shock damage of W-K-TiC alloys was improved slightly with the increased TiC addition.
