We present the method of the HCMUS team pariticipating in Multimodal Person Discovery in Broadcast TV Task at the MediaEval Challenge 2016. There are two main tasks in our method. First we identify a list of potential characters of interest from all video clips. Each potential character is defined as a pair of face track, a sequence of face patches, and a name. We use OCR results and face detection to find potential characters.

This paper resolves the problem of detecting small drones in surveillance videos using deep learning algorithms. Single Shot Detector (SSD) object detection algorithm and MobileNet-v2 architecture as the backbone were used for our experiments. The pretrained model was re-trained on custom drone synthetic dataset by using transfer learning’s fine-tune technique. The results of detecting drone in our experiments were around 90.8%.

This paper presents an effective method for the detection of multiple moving objects from a video sequence captured by a moving surveillance camera. Moving object detection from a moving camera is difficult since camera motion and object motion are mixed. In the proposed method, we created a panoramic picture from a moving camera. After that, with each frame captured from this camera, we used the template matching method to found its place in the panoramic picture. Finally, using the image differencing method, we found out moving objects.

In this paper, we focus on a fully automatic person ReID system which contains only three first steps of the full video analysis system that are person detection, tracking and re-identification. The purpose of human detection is to create a bounding box contain an object in a given image while tracking methods aim at connecting the detected bounding boxes of the same person. Paralympic Cross-Country sit-skiers use adaptive equipment, with a resulting gesture similar to double poling techniques adopted by able-bodied skiers. Despite the similarity, a specific attention on the gesture performed by sit-skiers is needed. The paper focuses on the sledge kinematic and on inertia effect of upper body motion which is translated in a propulsive effect in the early stage of the pushing cycle. In particular a group of 7 elite sit skiers of class LW10 were recorded with a video-based markerless motion capture technique during 1 km sprint Paralympic race.

Inspired by the idea of AVCSR, which has combined visual features with audio features to increase the accuracy in noisy environments, we use AdaBoost algorithm and Kalman filter for the face and lip detectors. Our result shows that the system can detect and track mouth motion in real time. It is a critical point that encourages more researches in the visual tracking and voice recognition fields.
