The present investigation was undertaken at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra, University of Agricultural Sciences, Bangalore. The research station is located at 120 59` north latitude and 770 35` East longitude with an elevation of about 930 m above mean sea level (MSL). The soil of the experimental site was red sandy loam (alfisol).

Correlation and path analysis for 17 traits were conducted for 22 genotypes of pointed gourd during 2016-17 at College of Horticulture, Dr. Y. S. R. Horticultural University, Venkataramannagudem, West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. The genotypic correlation coefficients were greater than the phenotypic correlation coefficient. Correlation study indicated that the number of nodes per vine, fruit length, fruit weight, pulp weight per fruit, pulp seed ratio, number of fruits per plant had significant positive association with fruit yield (t/ha) at both phenotypic and genotypic levels.

The analysis of variance for female and male parents exhibited (Table 1) significant difference for all the traits. The estimates of mean sum of squares due to Lines showed significant differences for all the traits except fruit rind thickness, fruit flesh thickness, fruit girth, total soluble solids (TSS) and total crude fiber content and in the male parents apart from these traits node to first female flower, sex ratio, vine length also indicating the presence of sufficient variability among the parents studied.

The present investigation was carried out involving thirty hybrids which were derived by crossing ten lines with three testers. These hybrids were evaluated along with their parents in randomized block design (RBD) with three replications. The recorded data was subjected to Line × Tester analysis. The analysis of variance for combining ability revealed that the mean sum of squares due to parents and hybrids were highly significant for almost all the characters except for days required to 50% pistillate flowering, vine length, number of primary branches per plant and internodal length.

Grape vine originated in Armenia as one of the temperate fruit crop got acclimatized under tropical condition. A field investigation on standardization of pruning severity and season for yield in grape variety Muscat Hamburg was carried out during the period from 2014 to 2015 in the farmer’s field, M.S.S. The present investigation was carried out at Main Experiment Station, Department of Vegetable Science, Narendra Deva University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj, Faizabad (U.P.) during summer season, to evaluate the available germplasms for yield and its component traits of 45 genotypes, with three replications in Randomized Block Design. The study revealed that the mean sum squares due to genotypes were significant for all the characters, though the wide range of genetic variability in the material.

In the recent time, pumpkin has got industrial importance with the development of pulp powder as a nutraceutical supplement to Vitamin A requirement. Pumpkin is cheaper source of Vitamin A when compared to carrot which necessitates specific climatic requirement for its production and high productivity per unit area. The investigation was undertaken at Department of Horticulture, SHIATS, Allahabad, during the year 2014. The present investigations were carried out to estimate the genetic components of variation for yield and its contributing traits in sponge gourd. Genetic components D^ , H^ 1 and H^ 2 were significant for days to first male flower anthesis, node number of first male flower, days to first female flower anthesis, node number of first female flower, fruit length, fruit weight, number of fruits per plant, main vine length and total yield except D^ in case of number of primary branches which indicate the importance of both additive and dominant gene effects in regulating these traits.

The present experiment was carried out to assess the degree of association of yield with its components, because yield is not an independent character and it is resultant of interaction of a number of component characters. Correlation provides information on the nature and extent of association between characters in a population. The present investigation was carried out with the objective to assess the magnitude and direction of heterosis and to identify good combiners for growth, earliness and yield characters. The maximum heterosis over better parent, the best parent and the commercial check was observed in the cross Bot.G-6-2 X Arka Bahar for all the growth parameters studied except heterobeltiosis for vine length.

A field investigation was carried out with thirty genotypes of cucumber to evaluate the performance of the genotypes for growth and yield characters under hill zone of Karnataka. The genotype Sirsi Local-2 exhibited superiority for vine length, number of primary branches per plant, days to first harvest of the fruit, per cent marketable fruits per vine and chlorophyll content. Minimum number of node to appear first female flower, highest number of fruits per vine (13.90) and maximum yield per vine were found in the cultivar Poinsette.

In the present investigation, 14 genotypes will be grown during rainy season 2016-2017 at the field experimentation centre of the Department of Horticulture, SHUATS, Allahabad (U.P.). Research results indicated significant variation in all the vegetative growth attributes and yield parameters in different drip irrigation and mulches. The maximum number of branches per vine, length of vine, number of leaves per vine and leaf area were recorded with 1.0 ETc as compared to other drip irrigation treatments at 60, 90 DAT and harvest.
