Outcome of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) infection is affected by virulence of the infecting strain of Mtb, host environment, co-morbidities, and the genetic composition of the host, specifically the presence or absence of genes involved in immune responses/regulation.

Salmonella is an important zoonotic pathogen, and chickens are one of its main hosts. Every year, Salmonella infections pose a serious threat to the poultry industry in developing countries, especially China. In this study, a total of 84 Salmonella isolates recovered from sick and healthy-looking chickens in central China were characterized by serotyping, MLST-based strain typing, presence of potential virulence factors, and antimicrobial resistance profiles.

Cucumber Fusarium wilt, caused by Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cucumerinum (Foc), is one of the most notorious diseases in cucumber production. Our previous research showed the virulence of Foc significantly increases over consecutive rounds of infection in a resistant cultivar.

The present study aimed to explore the antibacterial activity of some seaweed extracts against urinary tract (UTI) infectious bacteria. To compare the activity of these extracts as natural drug sources with the standard synthetic antibiotics against multidrug resistant (MDR) isolates. Finally, to compare the virulence gene profiles of the UTI isolates and detect the effect of seaweeds treatment on their virulence activities.

A study was undertaken to investigate virulence gene profiles of shiga toxinproducing E. coli serogroups in diarrhoeic buffalo calves of Andhra Pradesh (AP) and Telangana States (TS). A total of 375 faecal samples from diarrhoeic buffalo calves of 1 to 90 days were collected from various districts in AP and TS, of which 302 E. coli (80.53%) were isolated.

The objective of the study was to characterize the virulence gene profile of MSSA and MRSA isolated from bovine mastitis. A total of 160 mastitic milk samples were collected from different regions of Jammu. Following different molecular techniques, a total of 36(37.5%) isolates were confirmed as S. aureus.

This study was conducted to characterize virulence genes of Escherichia coli isolates from tuna loins and flakes produced in Côte d’Ivoire. In total, 460 Escherichia coli isolates were analyzed for the presence of diarrhea-associated genes (eae, stx, AggR, elt, and est) by multiplex PCR using specific primers and for their susceptibility to 10 different antimicrobials according to the disk diffusion susceptibility test.

Brachypodium distachyon is a promising model plants for grasses. Infections of Brachypodium by various pathogens that severely impair crop production have been reported, and the species accordingly provides an alternative platform for investigating molecular mechanisms of pathogen virulence and plant disease resistance.

The poultry industry, especially chicken production has in recent times faced a major set-back due to devastating effects of APEC Extended Spectrum BetaLactases (ESBL) producing organisms. This research aimed at investigating antimicrobial susceptibility profile and diversity of ESBL producing avian pathogenic Escherichia coli(APEC) among fecal cloacal swaps of scavenging local chickens based on the various housing systems. The APEC isolates were determined by virulence factor profiling and by Kirby-Baeur disc diffusion, 42% of the APEC isolates were found to be ESBL producers.

T A total of 23 putative Listeria isolates obtained from different sources, viz. food, animal, human, caterpillar and mosquito were screened for presence of the virulence factors by multiplex polymerase chain reaction (mPCR). Multiplex polymerase chain reaction for the amplification of isp and prs genes was employed for genus and species identification, while virulence profiling was employed by amplification of plcA, hlyA, actA, prfA, inlC, inlJ, luxS and fla genes. All strains harbours virulence genes plcA, hlyA, actA, prfA, inlC, inlJ, luxS and fla.
