  • Polymer blending is one of the advanced technologies to attain polymeric material with tailored properties. In this work, the miscibility of Poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) and Polystyrene (PS) blend in benzene was investigated by employing various techniques such as FTIR spectroscopy, viscosity measurement technique, light scattering techniques, DSC and TGA techniques over an extended range of concentrations, compositions, and temperatures.

  • This study is the continuation of our previous work (Kopaˇc, Abrami, et al., 2021) where the theoretical approach of polymer-polymer interaction to predict the crosslink density of hydrogels was introduced. This theory is further extended to the flow properties of hydrogels that allow the analysis of synergistic effect in hydrogel systems and the understanding of possible anomalous behavior of certain mixtures.

  • The prevalence of dysphagia is very high in institutionalized elderly. Knowledge of the rheological and sensory characteristics of the various thickeners in elderly is limited, although it has been seen that there are differences between the rheological behaviors of gum-based thickeners with different composition.

  • preading area through a 1.3 cm deep matrix was reduced with increased moisture content, densely packed matrixes, and higher viscosity oils. Initial contact angle (CA) measurements for all oils was typically lower on clay matrixes due to its sheet-like structure and high absorption capabilities. Individual droplet penetration took longer at lower MC in direct contradiction to bulk kinetics studies, suggesting different spreading behavior across the surface border.

  • New polymeric phthalocyanine moieties (M = 2H, Zn, Ni, Cu, and Co) were synthesized via polytetracyclomerization reaction of o-bis[3-(3,4-dicyanophenoxy)propyloxy]benzene (3), which can be obtained by the reaction of 4-nitrophthalonitrile with o-bis[(3-hydroxypropyl)oxy]benzene. Aggregation and disaggregation behavior of the polymeric phthalocyanine (5) was studied with some alkali and earth alkali metal cations. Measured intrinsic viscosities of the polymeric phthalocyanines exhibited a substantial decreasing tendency with dilution of the solution.

  • Protic ionic liquids (PILs) were synthesized through a stoichiometric neutralization reaction between 2,2′ - (ethylenedioxy)-bis(ethylamine) { Edbea} and various acids (formic, acetic, boric, decanoic, and gentisic acid). The PILs were characterized by elemental analyses, FTIR, 1 H and 13 C NMR spectroscopy, and thermogravimetric analysis. All the PILs except PIL3 were liquid at room temperature. The viscosity of the PILs (PIL1, 2, 4, 5) was measured using a cone-and-plate viscometer at ambient temperature.

  • In this study, phase separation of colloidal whey protein isolate (WPI) particle dispersions was studied using a rod-like polysaccharide xanthan. Effects of different xanthan concentration, particle volume fraction, and temperature were analyzed by visual observations, turbidity measurements, and particle mobility tracking method. Particle mobility was determined using a diffusing wave spectroscopy (DWS) set up. Xanthan concentration was kept low in order not to increase the viscosity of dispersions, so that the phase separation could be observed easily.

  • The electrolytes of 1 M NaFSI dissolved in various carbonate solvents containing EC, PC and/or DMC have been investigated to find out the most compatible electrolyte composition with hard carbon (HC) anode in Na-ion batteries (NIBs). The physical properties including viscosity and conductivity were measured to correlate with the electrochemical behaviors of these electrolytes. The Na/HC half-cell was used for testing the charge/discharge performance of prepared electrolytes at room temperature.

  • The comparison with experimental data shows that the GSC provides very good result for a well arranged particle size scale that allows mapping the whole medium by composite spheres of different size scales. However, the GSC cannot be used for a suspension with a non negligible volume of the EFZ. For such a case, extensions of the GSC those take into account the contribution of the EFZ to the overall viscous behavior of the system is necessary to fit with experimental data.

  • Rheological characteristics of honey-whole grain cereal extrudates as influenced by varying extrusion processing conditions were studied. Honey, blended at various level with the cereal flours at 14 and 17% feed moisture, was subjected to extrusion processing at different extrusion temperatures. The rheological properties of the resultant extrudates were measured by rapid visco analyzer. It was observed that all the processing conditions significantly affected the rheological properties of the extrudates. Increased extrusion temperature resulted in decreased viscosity of the extrudates.
