Visible light photocatalysis

In this study, a simple technique combining conventional electrospinning and facile gas–solid reaction for fabricating PAN/Ag2S nanofibers was presented and tested. The obtained fibers would have excellent properties such as the flexibility of PAN nanofibers and efficient photocatalysis of the Ag2S nanoshells under visible light. The photocatalytic elimination of RhB in water was used to evaluate the activity and application of the synthesized material under visible light irradiation.

Ebook "Photocatalytic activity enhancement of titanium dioxide nanoparticles: Degradation of pollutants in wastewater" covered include a detailed look at the unique properties of the TiO2 nanoparticles and their relationship to photocatalytic properties. This work presents the controlled synthesis of TiO2/graphene photocatalysts by hydrothermal method using TiCl4 as a precursor. The influence of the precursor concentration and the reaction time on the growth of TiO2 nanoparticles on graphene was studied, showing the ability to achieve the catalysts with desired TiO2 loadings and dispersion.

In the present study, ZnO nanostructures were ultrasonically synthesized and immobilized on the surface of diatomite and used for visible light photocatalysis of Acid Red 88 (AR88) in the aqueous phase. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analyses were employed for characterization of the samples. The process was optimized via response surface methodology (RSM) on the basis of central composite design (CCD).

This study also shows that the g-C3N4/SnO2 heterojunction is a stable catalyst system and superoxide radicals play a crucial role in the photocatalytic NO removal. Since the preparation of the g-C3N4/SnO2 heterojunction reported in this work is straightforward, it can potentially enable the preparation of highly robust visible-light-driven photocatalysts to remove NO pollution.

The pure diatomite and Fe2O3-diatomite materials have large pore structures representing the high adsorption ability and effi- cient photocatalysis.

Fujishima and Honda (1972) demonstrated the potential of titanium dioxide (TiO2) semiconductor materials to split water into hydrogen and oxygen in a photo-electrochemical cell. Their work triggered the development of semiconductor photocatalysis for a wide range of environmental and energy applications. One of the most significant scientific and commercial advances to date has been the development of visible light active (VLA) TiO2 photocatalytic materials. In this review, a background on TiO2 structure, properties and electronic properties in photocatalysis is presented.
