  • This study proposes a photonic crystal fiber made of fused silica glass, with the core infiltrated with chloroform as a new source of supercontinuum (SC) spectrum. We numerically study the guiding properties of the fiber structure in terms of characteristic dispersion and mode area of the fundamental mode.

  • The samples annealed at 150 C and 250 C showed a better optical absorption in the visible and the near infrared spectral regions with dominant characteristic peaks at 691.2 nm and 801.6 nm. Further studies assured that the EPC process yielded good quality and large area MoSe2 films with exotic structural, optical and nanomorphological characteristics that are highly suitable for functional devices.

  • This study aimed to detect the gray mold disease at an early stage on tomato fruits using the non-destructive visible/near-infrared (VIS/NIR) technique. Botrytis. cinerea fungus was isolated and identified using two specific primer sets (C729+/- and BC108+/BC563-). Three tomato varieties were used for this study (i.e. Harver, Izmer and Ekram), 30 samples from each variety, 20 samples were injected with the B. cinerea and 10 samples were left as control/healthy samples.

  • The inconsistency of chlorophyll content in rapeseed directly affects the quality of seed, so it is necessary to establish a rapid and nondestructive detection technology of chlorophyll in mature rapeseed. In this paper, the content of chlorophyll in rapeseed samples was determined by ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometry, and the near-infrared spectrum data were collected. The partial least squares regression model of chlorophyll content in rapeseed was established based on hyperspectral technology through first derivative and standard normal variable transformation pretreatment.

  • This paper proposes a dorsal hand vein detection method utilising the near-infrared (NIR) imaging device to segment and visualise the subcutaneous vein patterns on the skin directly. Applying NIR light has received substantial attention because of its non-invasive and revealing substantially more information than the visible one.

  • In this paper we focus on the preparation and the biofunctionalization of GNSs. The coverage of the GNSs on the surfaces of the silica NPs was evaluated using UV-VIS/NIR spectroscopy. The surphase plasmon resonance (SPR) wavelengths of these GNSs were tunable from visible to near infrared.

  • This study investigated the possibility of determining iron deficiency in orchard leaves using visible/near-infrared methods. Sampling was performed in 24 different healthy orchards (apple, cherry, and peach trees) grouped depending on the severity of iron deficiency.

  • The results show that the AuNPs exhibited a single plasmonic resonance, the AuNRs displayed two identical and separated modes of the resonance, and the random Au nano-islands presented a very broad resonance. Specifically, tailoring the anisotropy of the Au nanorods enabled extending their resonant frequencies from the visible to the near infrared region, which is in accordance with the finite different time domain simulations.

  • Discovered almost fifty years ago at Bell Labs (1964), the Nd:YAG laser has undergone an enormous evolution in the years, being now widely used in both basic research and technological applications. Nd:YAG laser is extremely versatile in its output characteristics, yielding emission from continuous wave to very large energy pulses or very high peak-power pulses. Also, it covers a large spectral range, namely near infrared, visible (second harmonic) and ultraviolet (third to fifth harmonic).

  • A communication system transmits information from one place to another, whether separated by a few kilometers or by transoceanic distances. Information is often carried by an electromagnetic carrier wave whose frequency can vary from a few megahertz to several hundred terahertz. Optical communication systems use high carrier frequencies (∼ 100 THz) in the visible or near-infrared region of the electromagnetic spectrum. They are sometimes called lightwave systems to distinguish them from microwave systems, whose carrier frequency is typically smaller by five orders of magnitude (∼ 1 GHz).

Brief about blue laser? Stands for light emitting diode. Semiconductor device: p-n junction forward-biased.current emits incoherent narrow spectrum light (due to recombination in transition region near the junction.) Color of the emitted light depends on the chemical of the semiconducting material used. (Near-ultraviolet, visible or infrared.)...
