  • Excessive unbalance of the DC capacitor voltages of the inverter can cause overvoltages on power components and capacitors, causing unintended low-order harmonics on the load side such as second harmonics, 3rd, 4th, 5th,..., causing direct harm to the motor load, reducing the controllability of the reverse voltage and filter compensating current for the active filter circuit, affect to the performance of electric vehicles (EVs).

  • Lecture Electronic materials - Lecture 15: Large signal (complete model) and small signal (limited use) models of a diode provide students with knowledge about the voltage across the diode is zero for forward bias. The slope of the current voltage curve is infinite for forward bias. The current across the diode is zero for reverse bias.

  • Under normal operation of a diode, an applied reverse bias (voltage) will result in a small current flow through the device. However, at a particular high voltage, which is called breakdown voltage VBD, large currents start to flow. If there is no current limiting resistor, which is connected in series to the diode, the diode will be destroyed. There are two physical effects which cause this breakdown. In this chapter, you will learn about: in the bulk of the diode outside the depletion region, the semiconductor is neutral.

  • The designed and constructed device detects and automatically corrects phase reversal with the use of electrical circuit involving electromagnetic contactor incorporating timer relay at the heart of the controller. In addition, it also incorporates under/over-voltage and phase failure protection. This is to ensure that connected loads operate within their manufacturers’ specified voltage limits and also are protected against any damage that could result in the event of a phase loss.

  • This paper reports on the design and characterization of 6.5kV class 4H-SiC PiN diodes with different active areas of 2, 8, and 24mm2 . Diodes edge termination is a combination of MESA and JTE. The blocking voltage of 6.5kV was achieved on the three types of diodes. Diodes operation stability is studied in term of temperature dependence and DC stress. In the limit of used package, these diodes present a stable operation until 225°C. The reverse leakage current at 225°C is less than 3µA at 3kV for 24mm2diodes.

  • In order to improve the performance of the LIBS technique – in particular its sensitivity, reproducibility and limit of detection – we studied the effect of applying a static electric field with different polarities on the emission spectra obtained in a typical LIBS set-up. The physical parameters of the laserinduced plasma, namely the electron density Ne and the plasma temperature Te, were studied under such circumstances.

  • The dysfunction of voltage-gated ion channels contributes to the pathology of ischemic stroke. In this study, we developed rat models of transient ischemic attack (TIA) and reversible ischemic neurological deficit (RIND) that was induced via the injection of artificial embolic particles during full consciousness, that allow us to monitor the neurologic deficit and positron emission tomography (PET) scans in real-time.

  • The microstructure, crystallographic structure and magnetic properties of ferroelectric-ferromagnetic PZT/CoCr heterostructures have been investigated by using XRD, SEM and VSM. Upon applying an electric field, the in-plane magnetization of the heterostructures decreases at various bias magnetic fields. The change in magnetization and the magnetization reversed voltage were obtained. The results demonstrate that the change in magnetic anisotropy can be controlled by electric field via strain-mediated magnetoelectric coupling.

  • Most students of electricity begin their study with what is known as direct current (DC), which is electricity °owing in a constant direction, and/or possessing a voltage with constant polarity. DC is the kind of electricity made by a battery (with de¯nite positive and negative terminals), or the kind of charge generated by rubbing certain types of materials against each other. As useful and as easy to understand as DC is, it is not the only \kind" of electricity in use.

Schottky diodes of single NW were fabricated by putting single ZnO NW across Au and Pt electrodes. A device with ohmic contacts at both the sides was also fabricated for comparison.

  • Typical dynamic responses are also shown. The motor is initially at standstill and at no load when a step command in speed is applied; when steady-state conditions are reached, a reversal of speed is commanded followed by a step load application. The system is highly nonlinear due to the introduction of saturation needed to limit both the current delivered and the voltage applied to the motor.
