Dehydration has deleterious effects in many species, but camels tolerate long periods of water deprivation without serious health compromise. The kidney plays crucial role in water conservation, however, some reports point to elevated kidney function tests in dehydrated camels.

The present investigation was aimed to study the effect of vitamin C on electrolyte concentrations in blood and urine in water deprived goats during summer and winter seasons. Eighteen adult male goats were selected for the experiment during both seasons.In each season, there were two treatment groups: T1 and T2 group. In T1 group, water was restricted and subdivided into three experimental periods: in period 1 (day 1 to 7), goats were adapted to the water restriction regime by limiting access to water gradually from 15 to 3 hour per day.

In commercial broiler hatcheries, chicks hatch over a period of 20–36 hours. The chicks are removed from the hatch tray of the incubator after a majority of them have cleared from the eggshell. Then, the chicks undergo various hatchery practices like sexing, vaccination, packaging, and transport before they are placed in a commercial broiler farm. Thus, under practical conditions, chicks remain deprived of feed and water for about 48– 72 hours after hatching.

The decline in activity is important because the generation of metabolic heat is reduced and respiratory water losses are also reduced.
