With Beech veneers being treated with 10% solid content of the chemicals from paper (Alkyl ketene dimer, AKD), wood (N-methylol melamine, NMM-1) and textile industry (fatty acid modified N-methylol melamine, mNMM-2), the results showed that the treatments with these chemicals considerably increased the water repellence effectiveness (WRE) of veneers in the initial submersion phases. In this paper, veneers treated with Nmethylol melamine and AKD chemicals were investigated on water/moisture related properties and their stability after cyclic tests.

In this paper, Nuva1811, Ruco Dry ECO, FW-500D were evaluated the impact on viscose fabric. The efficiency of the process implementation was determined by measuring and analyzing the physical properties of fabric samples. Viscose fabric treated with Nuva 1811 60 g/l was evalutated the high water repellency with level 4 after finishing. However, the washing fastness properties was decreased slightly. When applied in the fiber, the polymer will form a structure that presents CF3 outer surface for maximum repellency.

The major component of Eucalyptus globulus is 1,8-Cineole (Eucalyptol) and has been recognized as a high ovipositional repellent and mild mosquito feeding repellent [8]. Chemical instability, volatility, propensity for oxidation and poor water solubility of essential oils make them inconvenient for extensive use [9]. Cymbopogon winterianus, commonly known as citronella, is native to the tropical and subtropical areas, consisting of citronellol, citronellal, and geraniol as its major compounds [10]. Waxes are esters of long-chain fatty acids with long-chain fatty alcohols found abundant in the environment in various forms. Bacteria degrading these waxes in agricultural residues, soils and insects are gaining increased attention. In India, about 500 million tonnes of crop residues are generated annually and these crop residues are rich in cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, pectin, cutin, waxes, fats and oils. Accumulation of waxy rich crop residues in the environment decreases the rate of decomposition and increase the hydrophobicity of soils.

Two types of finishes help protect fabrics. Silicone (such as Sylmer) finishes repel water-based substances.
