In this study, piroxicam/β-cyclodextrin complexes are prepared in supercritical carbon dioxide (SC-CO2 ) in the solid state and the process was optimized using response surface methodology (RSM). UV-Vis spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and dissolution profile in water were used to characterized the complex under optimized temperature, residence time, moisture, and ternary agent.

Azolla is a free floating, rapidly growing aquatic fern on water surface. It is one of the most nutritive aquatic plants, owing to its high protein and carotenoid contents and of generally good amino acid profile. Traditional supplements based on oilseed cakes are expensive and cannot fulfill the required nutrients to animals. Forage-based economical feeding strategies are required to reduce production cost of quality livestock products. Productivity of dairy animals largely depends of efficient feeding management.

Water logging and low application efficiency are main problems inherent with surface irrigation. The methods were surface, surface drip and subsurface drip irrigation with three level of irrigation 100, 80, 60% of potential evapo-transpiration were compared and contour map of soil moisture patterns were analysed for corn in two times; one before irrigation, and other at 48 h after irrigation. The distribution of water in soil profile for potato crop by subsurface drip irrigation system (SDI) studied and it was observed uniform and more yield for all treatments.

The present study evaluated the effects of long-term tillage operation on soil physical properties and nutrient dynamics on surface soil. The soil samples were collected at 0 to 15cm soil depth profiles in the year of 2016 and 2017 from following treatment (T1) Conventional tillage, (T2) Conventional tillage with seeding by bullock drawn, (T3) Zero till seeding with bullock drawn, (T4) Conservation tillage seeding with country plough and (T5) Utera cropping (T5).

Performance evaluation of surface irrigation method was carried out for cotton and wheat fields in village Kirarkot (Sirsa). Water application, storage and distribution efficiency were estimated using measurements of soil moisture, infiltration characteristics, water advance and recession time during different irrigation events. Applied depth of irrigation was estimated based on infiltration opportunity time at different points in the selected border strips.

Numerical wave flumes are useful in predicting detailed flow patterns due to wave breaking in the surf zone, which is very important in design of coastal structures. In this study, the CADMASSURF model (2001) is used to get insight into cross-shore wave and flow processes in the surf zone, and to some extent, to evaluate the impact of waves to a typical seawall in Vietnam.

A new class of injectable, biocompatible and biodegradable hydrogel is reported. This hydrogel is derived from N-succinyl chitosan (SCS) mixed with water-soluble dialdehyde starch (DAS) without using a conventional chemical crosslinker. The hybrid hydrogel is formed owing to the Schiff’s base reaction between amine groups of SCS and dialdehyde groups of DAS to form ACH‚NA group. SCS, DAS, and SCS–DAS hybrid hydrogels were synthesized and then characterized by FTIR analysis spectroscopy.

The ready availability of carbon through the exploitation of hydrocarbon oil reserves over the past century has lead to a vast amount of organic compounds being introduced into the environment either through the use of oil in fuels or the development and production of other chemical products by industry. Literally tens of thousands of synthetic organic chemicals have been and continue to be developed. Many organic chemicals are known to have potential human health impacts and drinking-water quality standard listings developed.

Linking up with Chapter 2, dealing with uniform flow in open channels, it may be noted that any change in the flow phenomenon (i.e. flow rate, velocity, flow depth, flow area, bed slope do not remain constant) causes the flow to be non-uniform. This chapter will discuss the effect of change in any one of the above quantities, including specific energy, critical depth and slope, and flow types. How to draw water surface profiles will also be introduced.
