We report a simple design of a water-based broadband metamaterial absorber in the terahertz region. The absorption performance of the designed absorber is simulated using numerical method. Due to the large frequency dispersive permittivity and high relative dielectric loss of water, the bandwidth of the proposed absorber can extend.

The structure of haplogroup H reveals significant differences between the western and eastern edges of the Mediterranean, as well as between the northern and southern regions. Human populations along the westernmost Mediterranean coasts, which were settled by individuals from two continents separated by a relatively narrow body of water, show the highest frequencies of mitochondrial haplogroup H.

This work reports on water desorption from cassava starch in relation with the structure and conditioning of granules in suspensions or after equilibration in desiccators. The experimental work is performed by thermogravimetric analysis with isothermal and non-isothermal protocols and interpreted to derive the activation energies and desorption frequencies according to the humidity range with no adjustable parameter.

The study was conducted to evaluate surface water quality, location, frequency and monitoring indicators of surface water of Tien River, Tien Giang province in 2019. CA results revealed that from 7 current monitoring locations can be reduced to 4 locations and 4 monitoring periods into 2 - 3 monitoring periods still ensuring the representativeness of water quality on Tien River in Tien Giang province.

Cellulose acetate (CA) membranes were modified by nano-silicon dioxide (n-SiO2), and they were exposed to ultrasonic waves at a frequency of 35 kHz. The effect of sonication on their water sorption tendency and permeation capability was investigated. The characterization of the membranes was done by FTIR and SEM analysis, and the hydrophilic character of the membranes was deduced by swelling studies and contact angle (CAn) measurements.

Molecular and electronic structures of a novel Al30O30 star-shaped alumina nanocage (SANC) were studied using the recently developed CAM-B3LYP density functional method. Comparison of the stretching vibrational modes of this compound with the corresponding modes related to an Al20O30 perfect cage and Al50O75 tubular alumina nanomaterials showed a shift to lower frequencies, while the bending modes moved to higher frequencies. The highest occupied molecular orbital (HOMO) of the SANC had 65% nonbonding character, whereas the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) was 72% antibonding.

In this work, the degradation of Basic Red 29 (BR29), an azo dye, was investigated using a high-frequency ultrasonic reactor (300 kHz). The influence of several parameters such as initial substrate concentration (5–200 mg L−1 ), pH (3–10.1), ultrasonic power (20–80 W), and nature of the dissolved gas (Ar, air, and N2) on the degradation of BR29 was assessed. Additionally, the impact of natural matrices (seawater and natural and river waters) on the degradation rate of BR29 was clarified.

On the basis of the data source of the 10 m wind field above the sea with the hourly frequency and during the period of 41 years (1979–2019) by the NCEP CFRS, we used the probability distribution functions to study the distribution law of wind speed in the waters of Ly Son island. Specifically, four distribution functions (normal distribution, gamma distribution, Weibull distribution and extreme value distribution) were used to estimate the characteristic parameters of the shape and proportion of the wind distribution in the waters of Ly Son island.

Researchers have studied and evaluated the effects of electrical current frequency (f = 0÷2.000 Hz) on the physicochemical properties (surface tension, dynamic viscosity, specific weight) of wastewater. The effect of electric fields on the physicochemical properties of water, allows it to identify the optimal treatment regimes that promote the intensification of various processes taking place in an aqueous medium or in the presence of water.

This paper investigates the impacts of InterChannel Interference (ICI) effects on a shallow underwater acoustic (UWA) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM) communication system. Considering both the turbulence of the water surface and the roughness of the bottom, a stochastic geometry-based channel model utilized for a wideband transmission scenario has been exploited to derive a simulation model. Since the system bandwidth and the subcarrier spacing is very limited in the range of a few kHz, the channel capacity of a UWA system is severely suffered by the ICI effect.

Hence, it is important to study the inactivation mechanism of any novel processes before stepping into the market. E. coli inoculated distilled water sample is subjected to ultrasound treatment at 20 KHz frequency with single amplitude of 60 µm for 15 minutes. TEM images obtained before and after sonicated samples is an evident to understand the lethality of E. coli bacterium by cavitation effect of ultrasound.
