  • Kuthanagere micro watershed is located in Ramanagar district. It was developed in 1995 with bench mark information on GIS and monitored for 19 years for changes in soil- site characteristics. The normal annual rainfall of the Kuthanagere watershed was 1027.6 mm in 45 rainy days. The area under 3 to 5 per cent slope was considerably reduced (by 6 %) as against increase in area (by 13 %) under 1 to 3 per cent slope class. Further the area under moderate erosion was decreased by 4.66 per cent and that became qualified under none to slight erosion class.

  • A rainfall – runoff model describes the relation between the rainfall and runoff for a particular catchment area. The relationship between rainfall in a period and the corresponding runoff is quite complex. SCS-CN method is used to estimate the runoff, but, SCS-CN method does not consider the impact of rainfall intensity and did not account for the influence of forest management practices. The aim of this study is to develop Fuzzy Logic Model to estimate runoff using rainfall given for the area under consideration.

  • Mid-Himalayan Watershed Development Project has been reckoned as an instrument to bring the second-generation Green Revolution through, increasing productivity in rainfed areas. The study revealed that the dependency ratio with respect to total workers was found to be 0.40 in case of beneficiary families and 0.26 in case of non- beneficiary families. It was found that with the interventions of the project there has significant change in area of major crops, increase in productivity and net returns of the beneficiary farms.

  • Thematic maps present information relating to spatial variations in the distribution of specific geographical features at a regional scale or across the entire basin. The spatial distribution of thematic maps aids in decision-making of management of resources. Different thematic maps generated for the Kinnerasani basin include watershed boundary, drainage network, slope map, landuse/landcover map and soil map with the help of Survey of India topographical map and Cartosat DEM. LULC map was developed using IRS P6 LISS III satellite data.

One hundred eighteen surface soil samples were identified for determining physical and chemical indicators of soils.
