This study sheds light on the post-equilibrium sea bed scour mechanism around a wind turbine. The simulation results explain the influence of different hydrodynamic mechanisms on the local scours in a cohesive fluid, such as periodic waves, random waves, and constant currents. The conventional Bingham model is adopted as the fundamental model. However, due to the intrinsic characteristic, the Bingham model cannot illustrate the stratified material satisfactorily.

A new type of floating breakwater (FB) is proposed in this paper. Its hydrodynamic performance has been tested. The structure of the new breakwater named perforated semi-circular floating breakwater (SCFB) consists of two parts: a main body of a box-shaped base block and a semi-circular upper structure is perforated for the purpose of absorbing breaking and overtopping wave energy.

In order to design of the slope protection structure, the wave parameters, fetch, water levers... are given to calculate the minimum thickness of upstream protection (USP), satisfying the sliding and overturning conditions on inclined slope. In this report, uplift stability condition would be examined in case of reservoir drawdown.

This paper presents the development of hydrodynamic simulation models (waves, currents) for the Vietnam East Sea and nestingto coastal area (applied in the coastal area of Phu Yen province). The COAWST modeling system has been used. This is an open source system which supports optimal parallel calculation and allows solving large-scale simulation problems.

This study tested the development of a wavefield simulation model for the East Sea area with good quality, replacing global data sources to be proactive in data sources in order to serve detailed hydrodynamic calculations for coastal areas. The model toolkit used is MIKE 21 FM, this is a widely used toolkit in the world thanks to its advantages such as user-friendliness, good computing support, and simulation of many hydrodynamic problems.

In the present study, an open-source coupled numerical model based on Delft3D source code was performed and applied to simulate the hydrodynamic changes due to the Super Typhoon Rammasun in the Gulf of Tonkin (GTK). The results indicated that the typhoon strongly affects the current, water level, wave fields, and suspended sediment transport in the western coastal areas of the GTK.

The thesis will solve the following two basic objectives: Clarifying the effect of hydrodynamic and geometric factors on the current velocity due to wave at the dike toe by using rocks; Determining the formula to calculate the maximum flow velocity at the foot of the embankment (dike toe), then select the solution to design the structure of the foot protection of the embankment in both with or without roughness structures

The central beach in west coast of Nha Trang bay has experienced erosion in recent years. The determination of hydrodynamic regime and causes of this beach fluctuation is still an open problem and is concerned by scientists and managers. This study shows the causes and scales of the shoreline change processes based on the results of shoreline change model and the analysis of remote sensing images of shoreline location.

Semi-submersible drilling platforms are huge bulk structures for extracting the oil products from great depth of seas. For such bulk structures, the Morrison’s equations are no longer valid for determining the loads applied to the semi-submersible drilling platforms.

In the present study, a numerical seakeeping analysis of a KRISO container ship (KCS) was performed in regular waves in various wave directions. The hydrodynamic interactions between the ship and the regular waves were investigated using Panel Method. The numerical seakeeping analyses were performed in AQWA software.

Numerical wave flumes are useful in predicting detailed flow patterns due to wave breaking in the surf zone, which is very important in design of coastal structures. In this study, the CADMASSURF model (2001) is used to get insight into cross-shore wave and flow processes in the surf zone, and to some extent, to evaluate the impact of waves to a typical seawall in Vietnam.

We study the gravitational wave emission of equal-mass neutron stars in binary orbits as the stars approach the inner most last stable circular orbit. We illustrate the extraction of gravitational wave forms in a sequence of quasi-circular orbit simulations including the general relativistic hydrodynamic response of the stars. We compare the computed results with the Newtonian and post Newtonian results and show that substantial differences can arise as the orbits approach the final inspiral.

The deposition in Day estuary tends to increase strongly due to abundant sources of sediment from the Red River system and the estuary is located in a concave coast where strong impacts of wave are eliminated. In this study, MIKE model developed by Danish Hydraulic Institute is employed to simulate, evaluate and forecast hydrodynamic regime as well as erosion, sedimentation and shoreline change processes in Day river mouth located in Ninh Binh.

The inner magnetosphere is an important region of space plasma because it is one of the “kitchens” for space weather effects. The scientific understanding of this region is important for predicting the interaction between space environmental conditions and human activities. The inner magnetospheric plasma is a unique composition of different plasma particles and waves. It covers a huge plasma energy range with spatial and time variations of many orders of magnitude.
