Global competition has intensified geographic repositioning of supply chain activities with implications for the economic prosperity of specific regions and geographies affected by such shifts. This study examines the relationship between the level of corruption and economic growth using the supply chain and ARDL bounds test method. The data used are GDP, the level of corruption, foreign direct investment, government spending and inflation from 2000-2018. The results of the study indicate a negative and significant impact on the level of corruption on economic growth in the long run.

Pest control practices in the vegetable crops have been heavily dominated by the routine use of broad-spectrum insecticides to control pests. Concerns have emerged about the adverse consequences of over use of pesticide. These consequences include short and longterm health hazards, contamination and environmental degradation. To minimize the pest losses farmers heavily depend on the chemical pesticides and accessing pest management information from the pesticide dealers due to weak state extension support system.

The main purpose of this study is to better understand the U.S economy recovery in order to know if the recent crisis will be followed by another one much bigger or if the United States will be fully recovered. Through this study, it will examine the current strengths and weaknesses of the U.S economy. This work is based on two sources, primary data and secondary data. The primary data has been collected by three deep interviews and one questionnaire whereas the secondary data have been selected from several sources such as articles, books, libraries, Internet.

Bacteroides vulgatus has been shown to be involved in the aggravation of colitis. Previously, we separated two potent virulence factors, capsular polysaccharide (CPS) and lipopolysaccharide (LPS), from a clinical isolate of B. vulgatus and characterized the structure of CPS. In this study, we elucidated the structures of O-antigen polysaccharide (OPS) and lipid A in the LPS. LPS was subjected to weak acid hydrolysis to produce the lipid A fraction and polysaccharide fraction.

The long uORF-burdened 5¢UTRs of many genes encoding regulatory proteins involved in cell growth and differentiation contain internal ribosomal entry site (IRES) elements. In a previous study we showed that utilization of the weak IRES of platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF2) is activated during megakaryocytic differentiation.

The octadecaneuropeptide (ODN; QATVGDVNTDRPG LLDLK) and its C-terminal octapeptide (OP; RPGLLDLK), which exert anxiogenic activity, have been previously shown to increase intracellular calcium concentration ([Ca21]i) in cultured rat astrocytes through activation of a metabotropic receptor positively coupled to phospholipase C. It has also been found that the [D -Leu5]OP analog possesses a weak antagonistic activity. The aim of the present study was to synthesize and characterize cyclic analogs of OP and [D -Leu5]OP.

The antimitotic depsipeptide dolastatin 15 was radiolabeled with tritium in its amino-terminal dolavaline residue. Dolastatin 15, although potently cytotoxic, is a relatively weak inhibitor oftubulin assembly and does not inhibit the binding ofany other ligand to tubulin. The only methodo-logy found to demonstrate an interaction between the dep-sipeptide and tubulin was Hummel–Dreyer equilibrium chromatography on Sephadex G-50 superfine. The average apparent Kd value obtained in these studies was about 30lM, with no difference observed when column size or tubulin concentration was varied....

The ability of yeasts to grow in the presence of weak organic acid preservatives is an important cause of food spoilage. Many of the determinants of acetate resistance inSac-charomyces cerevisiae differ from the determinants of resistance to the more lipophilic sorbate and benzoate. Interestingly,we show in this study that hypersensitivity to both acetate and sorbate results when the cells have auxo-trophic requirements for aromatic amino acids.

The 2-hydroxycarboxylate transporter (2HCT) family of secondary trans-porters belongs to a much larger structural class of secondary transporters termed ST3 which contains about 2000 transporters in 32 families. The transporters of the 2HCT family are among the best studied in the class. Here we detect weak sequence similarity between the N- and C-terminal halves of the proteins using a sensitive method which uses a database con-taining the N- and C-terminal halves of all the sequences in ST3 and involves blastsearches of each sequence in the database against the whole database. ...

With the amount of genetic information available, a lot of attention has focused on systems biology, in particular biomolecular interactions. Con-sidering the huge number of such interactions, and their often weak and transient nature, conventional experimental methods such as X-ray crystal-lography and NMR spectroscopy are not sufficient to gain structural insight into these. A wealth of biochemical and⁄or biophysical data can, however, readily be obtained for biomolecular complexes.

Placental protein 13 (PP13) was cloned from human term placenta. As sequence analyses, alignments and computa-tional modelling showed its conserved structural and func-tional homologyto members of the galectin family, the protein was designated galectin-13. Similar to human eosi-nophil Charcot–Leyden crystal protein/galectin-10 but not other galectins, its weak lysophospholipase activity was confirmed by 31 P-NMR. In this study, recombinant PP13/ galectin-13 was expressed and specific monoclonal antibody to PP13 was developed. ...

Previous cross-linking studies [Kim E, Bobkova E, Hegyi G, Muhlrad A & Reisler E (2002)Biochemistry41, 86–93] have shown that site-specific cross-linking among F-actin monomers inhibits the motion and force generation of actomyosin. However, it does not change the steady-state ATPase parameters of actomyosin.

We study enhancement of diffusive mixing on a compact Riemannian manifold by a fast incompressible flow. Our main result is a sharp description of the class of flows that make the deviation of the solution from its average arbitrarily small in an arbitrarily short time, provided that the flow amplitude is large enough. The necessary and sufficient condition on such flows is expressed naturally in terms of the spectral properties of the dynamical system associated with the flow. In particular, we find that weakly mixing flows always enhance dissipation in this sense. ...
