In this paper, the author presents the results of a study to evaluate the effectiveness of the amine-based UV protection agent Tinuvin 292 under test conditions of colour difference ΔE (ASTM 2244), gloss loss (TCVN 2101: 2016) on samples of electromagnetic transparent coating (ETC) based on ester epoxy alkyd resin (EEA).

The luminescence phenomenon is well known as radiophotoluminescence (RPL). In this work, a new RPL glass material was developed for dosimeters that are used under high humidity conditions.

Time build-up properties of a recently developed radiophotoluminscence (RPL) glass made of silver-activated P2O5–Al2O3–Na2O–Ag2O, named “SAPANS” herewith, were examined using 137Cs source γ-rays. It was observed that the RPL intensities of SAPANS continuously increased at room temperature and did not reach a stable state even at six months after irradiation.

Turcicum leaf blight (TLB) or Northern Corn Leaf Blight (NCLB) is a ubiquitous foliar disease of corn (maize) caused by Exserohilum turcicum, the anamorph of the ascomycete Setosphaeria. The TLB fungus survives through the winter on infected maize residue at the soil surface. As temperatures rise in the spring and early summer, the fungus produces spores on residue, and then the spores are splashed or wind-blown onto leaves of the new maize crop. Infection occurs during periods of moderate (64° to 81°F), wet and humid weather.

Field experiment was conducted to study the role different weather variables on infection of Karnal bunt (KB) disease in Wheat. For the study eighty four recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of wheat cross, Aldan (resistant) and WH 542 (susceptible) were grown in randomized block design with three replications during season of year 2011-2012 and 2012- 2013. The screening of material was made under artificial conditions in field areas. Inoculum was prepared from 10-12 days old active culture of N. indica. Five spikes of each entry were inoculated with 2 ml of inoculum using hypodermic syringe.

Rice crop in cyclone prone coastal areas is most frequently subjected to lodging at reproductive stage causing severe yield loss. Breeding for non-lodging rice varieties is herculean task as it is controlled by structural properties of the culm and weather parameters. Present study aimed to select lodging resistant lines using phenotypic characters and molecular markers in early generations.

Coating systems based on zinc rich primer and fluoropolymer top coat were exposed for 8 years at different atmospheric stations in Vietnam: Ha Noi, Ha Long and Nha Trang. For comparison the coating system with zinc rich primer and polyurethane topcoat was also tested. The degradations of coating systems were evaluated by gloss measurement and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy.

Sheath rot disease caused by S. oryzae has emerged as one of the major diseases of rice inflicting yield losses ranging from 9.6 to 85% depending on the weather conditions. Weathering steel is NYSDOT’s first choice for steel multi-girder bridges under most conditions. This decision has been made in part because of the cost savings that can be realized due to decreased painting and maintenance requirements.
