  • Review study showed that CTPTR-CTW and ZTDSR-ZTW (RRRW) record the highest seed bank (SB) of grasses, sedges and BLWs as total weeds, in general; and predominant weeds i.e., Echinochloa spp., Ammania baccifera, Commelina benghalensis and Digitaria sanguinalis, in particular. It also showed the higher species richness (DMg) and Shannon–Weaver (H’) indices. CTDSRCTW and CTDSR-ZTW (RRR) show the lowest WSB and at par with Shannon–Weaver (H’) index; further, lowest species richness (DMg) under CTDSR-CTW.

  • Although plants exhibit a wide range of dyes, not all of these pigments can exhibit as dyes. Jangali Pyaz commonly known as vanpyaz (Asphodellus tenufolium) is a weed plant which is shredded off as a waste was exploited as a source of natural dye for Tassar Silk with objective of standardizing conditions of extraction and dyeing, fastness properties, ecofriendliness and colour absorption. The optimum dyeing conditions were 4g concentration, 60 minutes extraction time and 75 minutes of dyeing time.

  • A field experiment was conducted to assess the effect of seeding methods and weed management practices on yield of aerobic rice and nutrient removal by the weeds under direct seeded aerobic rice. Among the seeding methods line sowing increased the grain yield than the broadcasting method. Among weed management all the weed management practices were found to be equally effective in reducing the uptake of nutrient by weeds and producing higher grain yield as compare to weedy check. However maximum yield was obtained with the application of Pretilachlor 0.

A total ten weed species were found and identified. The results obtained indicated that Chenopodium album was most densely populated. The most important weeds that were associated with the opium poppy crop in the study area are of broad-leaved weeds.

  • A field experiment was carried out during kharif 2009-2010 at instructional farm, Junagadh Agricultural University, Junagadh to evaluate the suitable integrated weed management (IWM) practices for soybean. Result indicated that main weed flora was Cyperus rotundus L. integration of and its weed infestation was maximum from sowing to the harvesting of soybean. Integration of herbicides like Pendimethalin @ 0.750 kg ha-1 preemergence + 1HW and IC at 20 DAS recorded significant reducing in weed dry matter and higher weed control efficiency resulting in higher yield.

  • Testing techniques to reduce weed infestation is a crucial step in developing direct tree seedling systems. The use of pre-emergence herbicides may be an alternative to manual weeding techniques, but so far, information on how they affect native tree species based nurseries is scarce. We established an experiment to know the major weed flora and evaluated the effect of pre and post emergent herbicide on weed suppression of secondary nursery of Tectona grandis and Pterocarpus santalinus.

  • Rice is the staple food of Odisha in terms of area, production and yield. System of Rice Intensification (SRI) involves adoption of changes in management practices of rice cultivation creating a favourable condition for crop growth with less utilization of inputs. Despite the benefits, SRI has not adopted by the farmers as expected in the state. This paper attempted to analyse the perception of Odisha farmers regarding major constraints hindering widespread of SRI by different categories of farmers (i.e. adopters, dropouts and non-adopters) in the state and the positive impact of SRI.

  • The Present study was carried out at Bharatpur district of Eastern Rajasthan during 2015- 16, 2016-17 and 2017-18. Potato is one of the most important vegetable crops of the country. The development of the Agriculture is primarily depends on the application of the scientific technologies by making the best use of available resources. One of the major constraints of traditional potato farming is low productivity due to non management of weeds. To increase the production, productivity and quality of agricultural produce, on farm testing are being conducted at various farmers’ field.

  • Myrothecium roridum, a fungal plant pathogen is known to infect the leaves and stem of coffee seedlings in the nursery and leaves and berries of the plants in the field. The pathogen has a very wide host base infecting many agricultural and horticulture crops, ornamentals, gymnosperms and weeds. As black pepper is a major intercrop grown in the coffee plantations, the present study was under taken to test the ability of M. roridum to infect black pepper (Piper nigrum L.). Two isolates of M. roridum, isolated both from coffee nursery and field was inoculated on the leaves of pepper vines.

  • Generally farmers prefer manual weeding due to the lack of awareness about the mechanical weeder. But manual weeding is a most laborious and time consuming process. Nowadays mechanical weeders are being promoted to reduce drudgery, time of operation and to overcome the lack of labours problem. The study has been conducted on sandy loam and clay loam soils to evaluate the performance of two mechanical power weeders i.e., Garuda power weeder and Japanese power weeder. From the results, Garuda weeder has the highest weeding efficiency of 68.62 and 76.92 % and lowest plant damage of 24 and 13.

  • The current water shortage in Egypt is 13.5 Billion cubic meter per year (BCM/yr) and is expected to continuously increase. Currently, this water shortage is compensated by drainage reuse which consequently deteriorates the water quality. Therefore, this research was commenced with the objective of assessing different scenarios for 2025 using the Water Evaluation and Planning (WEAP) model and by implementing different water sufficiency measures. Field data were assembled and analyzed, and different planning alternatives were proposed and tested in order to design three future scenarios.

In an attempt to utilize the entire plant, the efficacy of the extracts of all its parts – aerial and submerged – was explored with different proportions of gold (III) solution in generating gold nanoparticles (GNPs). The progress of the synthesis, which occurred at ambient temperature and pressure and commenced soon after mixing the pistia extracts and gold (III) solutions, was tracked using UV–visible spectrophotometry.
