  • Growth performance of emu birds was evaluated with respect to season to assess the bird’s average daily weight gain from starter to slaughter weight maintained under intensive farming system. Study was done on a total flock size of 1000(n) birds at a commercial farm near Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh for 57 weeks closely associated different seasonal conditions.   • A total of 120, day-old broiler chicks were divided randomly into 4 treatment (CRD) groups with 3 replicates each i.e. 10 broiler chicks per replicate. Chicks of treatment T1 (control) were fed basal diet without any supplementation. In the treatment group T2, T3 and T4, basal diet was supplemented with 3% garlic powder, 0.5% turmeric powder and 1.5% garlic powder plus 0.25% turmeric powder, respectively. The feeding trial lasted for 6 weeks viz., 0-3 weeks (starter phase) and 3-6 weeks (finisher phase).

  • An experiment was conducted to assess the growth performance of quails on supplementation of seaweeds. 600 numbers of day old quail chicks were randomly divided into four groups with five replicates and 25 chicks in each replicate. Seaweeds viz., Chaetomorpha antennina, Sargassum wightii and Gracilaria corticata were collected from Gulf of Mannar region and was dried and included in the ration @ 3 % level and treated as group - 2, 3 and 4, respectively. Quail on normal ration was kept as control (Group -1). The trial was conducted for six weeks period.
