The use of fly ash to partially replace cement in concrete is one of the effective ways of reducing the negative effect on the environment due to the use and production of cement. This paper investigates the applicable use of raw fly ash, which is taken from Nghi Son coal power plant, Vietnam with a high loss on ignition in concrete.

This study aims to use FA and GGBFS to replace 50% cement in the production of LFC. Various PP fiber contents were also incorporated to enhance the mechanical strength of LFC. Then, the influence of PP fiber content on the engineering properties of LFC was investigated in terms of fresh unit weight (UW), dry density, water absorption, thermal conductivity, flexural strength, compressive strength, and ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV).

Drag reduction in fully developed turbulent pipe flow with 4 concentrations (200 to 500 wppm or mg/kg) of low molecular weight sodium carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) in aqueous solutions was investigated experimentally. Drag reduction was determined by pressure drop measurements. Maximum drag reduction achieved was 22% using 500 wppm CMC solution. To observe the impact of the presence of CMC on the flow, ultrasound Doppler velocimetry (UDV) was employed to monitor the instantaneous velocity distributions.

In order to reduce the serious impacts of industrial and agricultural wastes on the environment, raw rice husk and bottom ash were used as fine aggregates, while fly ash was utilized as a binder material in the production of unburnt building bricks. Two group mixtures were designed with water-to-binder (W/B) ratios of 0.30 and 0.35. The rice husk was used to replace 0%, 3%, 6%, and 9% of bottom ash content by mass.

The intervention of engineering properties of the seeds has an important role in design of pneumatic seeder for seeding in plug trays. The present study was carried out to find different physical properties like seed size (length and width), shape, thousand seed weight, bulk density and terminal velocity (aerodynamic property) of cabbage (Brassica oleracea) and tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) seeds at moisture content of 8.24%(wb) and 9.71%(wb), respectively.

Disproportionation of toluene with xylene high yields was studied over modified Y zeolite synthesized from kaolin of Vietnam. The effects of reaction temperature, weight hourly space velocity (WHSV) and of HZSM-5/HY ratios on toluene disproportionation have been investigated. The optimal condition of obtain the xylene high selectivity and the conversion of toluene is 17.15% HZSM-5/HY, WHSV = 3.99 h-1 and 438.6o C.
