Model Predictive Control (MPC) refers to a class of algorithms that optimize the future behavior of the plant subject to operational constraints. The merits of the class algorithms include its ability to handle imposed hard constraints on the system and perform on-line optimization. This thesis investigates design and implementation of continuous time model predictive control using Laguerre polynomials and extends the design approaches proposed in to include intermittent predictive control, as well as to include the case of the nonlinear predictive control.

Quantifying the multiple processes which control and modulate the extent of oral bioavailability for drug candidates is critical to accurate projection of human pharmacokinetics (PK). Understanding how gut wall metabolism and hepatic elimination factor into first-pass clearance of drugs has improved enormously. Typically, the cytochrome P450s, uridine 5′- diphosphate-glucuronosyltransferases and sulfotransferases, are the main enzyme classes responsible for drug metabolism. Knowledge of the isoforms functionally expressed within organs of first-pass clearance, their anatomical topology (e.

Schistosomiasis is an endemic disease in Egypt caused by the trematode Schistosoma which has different species. c the best known form of chronic disease with a wide range of clinical manifestations. The pathogenesis of schistosomiasis is related to the host cellular immune response. This leads to granuloma formation and neo angiogenesis with subsequent periportal fibrosis manifested as portal hypertension, splenomegaly and esophageal varices. Intestinal schistosomiasis is another well identified form of chronic schistosomal affection.

Wastewater Management is one of the most concerns in any urban area. An efficient management contributes to the wealth of a community, never the less a poor management leads to unpredictable hazards related to health, environmental pollution, etc. In developed countries, the issues of water and sanitation are solved, floodings are well controlled.

Preventing e. coli in food aim prevention and control require a multidisciplinary approach in animal and plant production as well as risk-based approaches along the entire food supply chain. These include the application of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) from the farm to the consumer.

The human b-globin gene locus is the subject of intense study, and over the past two decades a wealth of information has accumulated on how tissue-specific and stage-specific expression of its genes is achieved. The data are extensive and it would be difficult, if not impossible, to formulate a comprehensive model integrating every aspect of what is currently known. In this review, we introduce the fundamental characteristics of globin locus regulation as well as questions on which much of the current research is predicated.

BTG/Tob family proteins, which are characterized by similarities in their N-terminal BTG/Tob homology domains, control cell growth negatively. Among the BTG/ Tob family members, BTG2/TIS21/PC3 proteins have been reported to have short lives and to be degraded by the proteasome. However, the mechanisms regulating the stabilities of other BTG/Tob family proteins have not yet been clarified.

The p25rum1 is an inhibitor of Cdc2 kinase expressed in fission yeast and plays an important role in cell-cycle control. As its amino-acid sequence suggests that p25rum1 has putative phosphorylation sites for mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), we investigated the ability of MAPK to phosphorylate p25rum1. Direct in vitro kinase assay using GST-fusion proteins of wild-type as well as various mutants of p25rum1 demonstrated that MAPK phosphorylates the N-terminal portion of p25rum1 and residues Thr13 and Ser19 are major phosphorylation sites for MAPK....

As one of the most important families of non-natural poly-mers with the propensity to form well-defined secondary structures, theb-peptides are attracting increasing attention. The compounds incorporatingb-amino acid residues have found various applications in medicinal chemistry and biochemistry. The conformational pool ofb-peptides com-prises several periodic folded conformations, which can be classified as helices, and nonpolar and polar strands. The latter two are prone to form pleated sheets.

The surface charge as well as the electrochemical properties and ligand binding abilities of the Gram-positive cell wall is controlled by the d-alanylation of the lipoteichoic acid. The incorporation of d-Ala into lipoteichoic acid requires the d-alanine:d-alanyl carrier protein ligase (DltA) and the carrier protein (DltC). We have heterologously expressed, purified, and assayed the substrate selectivity of the recombinant proteins DltA with its substrate DltC.

Báo cáo khoa học: The double-stranded RNA-binding motif, a versatile macromolecular docking platform
The double-stranded RNA-binding motif (dsRBM) is anabbbafold with a well-characterized function to bind structured RNA molecules. This motif is widely distributed in eukaryotic proteins, as well as in proteins from bac-teria and viruses. dsRBM-containing proteins are involved in processes ran-ging from RNA editing to protein phosphorylation in translational control and contain a variable number of dsRBM domains.

Cys34 in domain I of the three-domain serum protein albumin is the bind-ing site for a wide variety of biologically and clinically important small molecules, provides antioxidant activity, and constitutes the largest portion of free thiol in blood. Analysis of X-ray structures of albumin reveals that the loop containing Tyr84 occurs in multiple conformations. In structures where the loop is well defined, there appears to be an H-bond between the OH of Tyr84 and the sulfur of Cys34.
