  • The development of nanotechnology interests the researchers for synthesis of nanoparticles with various bio-applications. The green synthesis of copper nanoparticles using Momordica charantia fruit extract acts as both reducing and capping agent. The biosynthesized CuNps were characterized by using UV-Vis analysis, Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS), Fourier Transform Infrared analysis (FTIR), X-ray diffraction analysis (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) analysis.

  • Objective of the research was to validate the potential of Syzygium aromaticum and Kaempheria galanga against biofilm formation and plasmid borne drug resistance exhibited by Pseudomonas spp. Antimicrobial property of S.aromaticum and K.galanga on P.aeruginosa culture was assessed using the agar well diffusion method. Crystal violet assay was employed to determine the percentage inhibition of P.aeruginosa biofilm by the extracts following generation of biofilm on multiwell plates.

  • In the present investigations, whole body extract of earthworm, Eisenia fetida was tested for antibacterial activity against fish bacterial pathogens. The bacteria were isolated from different tissues of infected common carp, Cyprinus carpio and identified by gram staining method. A total of eight pathogenic bacteria were isolated. Antimicrobial activity of the extract was studied under in vitro conditions by well diffusion assay.

  • The present study was designed to evaluate in vitro antimicrobial activity and antioxidant activity and anticancer activity of different five extracts of Euphorbia tirucalli Stem. Plant roots were extracted in different five solvents viz. Hexane, Chloroform, Methanol, Water and Methanol: Water (90:10) through Soxtherm according to polarity gradients. Aiming to investigate antimicrobial activities, agar well diffusion method was followed using five pathogenic bacteria and five fungi as test organisms.

  • Screening of antimicrobial compound from waste and low cost plant material would be better alternative material for synthetic food preservatives. Hence, in the present study, beetroot peel and whole radish was chosen. Beet root peel extract (BPE) and Whole radish extract (WRE) was prepared using water and screened for the antibacterial compound against various food borne pathogen using modified well diffusion assay. Then the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) level was identified for the various food pathogens.

  • Lactic acid bacteria were isolated from naturally fermenting fruit based fermented food (panchamirtham), by using specific medium. Totally twelve LAB were isolated from different panchamirtham samples. Among the bacterial isolates potential lactic acid bacteria were identified efficacy against four different human pathogens viz., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Listeria monocytogens. The bacterial isolates were screened for their ability to produce bacteriocins and inhibit five pathogenic organisms.
