  • The content of this research paper presents the method to control Grid Side Converter (GSC) of a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG)-based wind turbine (WT) for improving the stability of the generator. To present the power systems, a well-known power system with three Synchronous Generators (SGs) and nine buses that is widely used in many types of research is applied.

  • The main aims of this study are to: understand the phenomena of isolated mixing regions (IMRs) in Newtonian fluids agitated in mechanically stirred vessels, in particular, the formation of core torus, using experimental studies; investigate the behavior of IMRs structures by manipulating the operating variables such as impeller rotational speed and direction, as well as geometrical variables such as impeller types and baffle location; investigate the temporal chaotic mixing using different speed modulation protocols.

  • Wind energy potentials of some selected high altitude and coastal areas in Nigeria are assessed for possible utilization for the generation of electricity. The main aim is to provide pragmatic insight that will enhance the investment in wind energy conversion systems in an optimal manner. The data used in this present study were obtained from the Nigeria Meteorological Agency, which includes average wind speeds per day of four locations across the country, measured at the anemometer height of 10 m over a period of 11 years.

  • This article presents a highly important and detailed techno-economic analysis of a grid-connected wind farm, considered as one of the most potential location in the south of Albania, part of Tepelena region, Mamaj village. The procedure of selection of the wind turbine type is performed by evaluating the maximum Capacity Factor (CF) among 15 different types of wind turbines applied using WAsP energy tool enabling the optimization of energy system while economic analysis uses a Monte Carlo simulation well designed on RETScreen Expert tool.

  • A system could be developed to have about 10 cm de ection with huge downward pressure energy which would be used to rotate wells turbine by using compressed air. Enormous study had been carried out to improve power generation from speed breaker by using rack & pinion method and compressed air. But none of the study is carried out by using wells turbine from compressed air. In our research, a small model has been constructed.

  • The Krasnodar territory is considered one of most attractive regions in Russia in terms of its climatic characteristics for the development of renewable energy sources. According to the current plans of Russian Ministry of Energy, the cumulative capacity of wind generating facilities in the Krasnodar Territory will reach 405 MW by 2022. It is well known form the literature, the average installed capacity utilization factor of wind turbines currently is about 30%.

  • The use of detailed chemical reaction mechanisms of kerosene is still very limited in analyzing the combustion process in the combustion chamber of the aircraft engine. In this work, a new reduced chemical kinetic mechanism for fuel n-decane, which selected as a surrogate fuel for kerosene, containing 210 elemental reactions (including 92 reversible reactions and 26 irreversible reactions) and 50 species was developed, and the ignition and combustion characteristics of this fuel in both shock tube and flat-flame burner were kinetic simulated using this reduced reaction mechanism.

  • Universal sensitivity to our environment and environmental considerations have led to the development of projects that not only minimize GHG (Green House Gas) emissions, but also help to displace GHG emissions from existing plants as well as other emissions sources. Thus, one of the more significant advantages for gas turbine, combined cycles and gas reciprocating engines is the potential for GHG reductions as compared to less efficient systems.

  • This book is concerned with the subject of Wind Energy, as a source of clean and renewable and free for all. The need for this type of book is very well documented, the current consumption of energy is unsustainable and humans have to change their habits and or utilise this source, but there is so much work before we can rely completely on renewable energy. This book aims to describe the fundamentals of wind energy and the pertinent parameters that control the amount of energy available from a given wind turbine....

  • Innovation in engineering often means the clever use of a new material - new to a particular application, but not necessarily (although sometimes) new in the sense of ‘recently developed’. Plastic paper clips and ceramic turbine-blades both represent attempts to do better with polymers and ceramics what had previously been done well with metals. And engineering disasters are frequently caused by the misuse of materials.

  • World energy demand is likely to increase over the next 20 years, and it is well ascertained that fossil fuels will still be the dominant source for power generation all over the world. In this scenario, gas turbine (GT) engines will still represent a key technology, either in stand-alone applications or combined with other power generation equipment.
