Western Nghe An

Pu Hoat Nature Reserve (NR) is the part of the Western Nghe An Biosphere Reserve (Nghe An province, central Vietnam), and identified as an important area for biodiversity conservation in the North Central Coastal Vietnam. This nature reserve hosts various ecosystems and landscapes with four main formations including closed forests, sparse forests, scrubs and grass vegetation. It is well known that butterflies with their high diversity and abundance are one of the most important players in many ecosystem processes.

Salicylaldehyde has many applications as an intermediate in chemical industries. Genus Filipendula is a potential source of salicycldehyde. Essential oils are prescribed for a variety of health problems by traditional systems of medicine, all over the world. In present study, leaf essential oil composition of Filipendula vestita (Wall. Ex G. Don) Maxim. (Family: Rosaceae) from Uttrakhand, India was analyzed using gas chromatography (GC-FID) and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) methods.

The unfavorable area occupies only 1% of total region and the four favorable rests account for 99% of total, in which, the most favorable area is largest with about 746,355 ha, i.e. over 50% of whole region. The three other areas are cultivable but they are less favorable in terms of either temperature or precipitation. Growing tea in Western Nghe An, even in favorable areas, it should be taken into account of the weather disadvantages in certain moments of the year such as extreme dry, cold, hot and rainy events.

Melting parameter modeling shows the Nghia Dan melts generated from about 3 - 4% partial melting of a combined garnet- spinel- lherzolite source between a pressure range of 20 to 25 Kb (about 75 km deep). The parameters are consistent with the low SiO2 and high trace element, including the rare earth, contents in the Nghia Dan basalts. High FeO*, TiO2, CaO and Sr may also be a result of interaction with mafic components in the lithospheric mantle by the mantle-derived melts on the way to the surface.
