Wheat yield and economics
-
The main diseases of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) in Egypt, causing up to 50% of yield losses. Genetic resistance is the most economic and effective means of reducing yield losses caused by the disease. However, breeding genotypes for disease resistance is a continuous process and plant breeders need to add new effective sources to their breeding materials.

Productivity of wheat in India is in quite low and owing to partial adoption of recommended technologies and inappropriate application of critical inputs. It is imperative to demonstrate high yielding variety of wheat GW-366 and GW-451 which is dwarf and resistant to lodging and seed treatment practices with bifenthrin for termite management on farmer’s field for improving the overall production and productivity of wheat under close supervision of the scientist.

A field experiment was conducted during rabi season of 2005-2006 at Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Deendayal Research Institute, Majhagawan, Satna to studies on productivity and economic viability of various wheat based inter cropping systems under rain fed conditions of Kaymore Plateau. The experiment comprised of three intercropping treatments with different row proportions chickpea, linseed and mustard. The two years study revealed that the intercropping of wheat +chickpea in 2:2 row proportions proved better over other intercropping or mono-cropping system in terms of land equivalent ratio (1.

Field experiment was conducted at Research Farm AICRP on Wheat Department of Plant Breeding and Genetics, Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwa Vidyalaya, Jabalpur (M.P.) during Rabi season, 2016-17. The experiment consisted of 12 treatment combinations viz. in main plot 2 seed rates (50 and 100 kg/ha at 20 cm) and 3 spacing (15x15, 20x 15 and 20x20 cm dibbling) and whereas sub plot included genotypes (HI 1544, HI 8737). The highest yield was obtained in dibbling 15x15 cm (50.13 q/ha) followed by line sowing @ 20 cm with seed rate of 100 kg/ha (49.54q/ha) but the differences were not significant.

The major threat of the agricultural crop is the climate change, which grown globally in the subtropical and the tropical regions. Negative impact on the plant growth, development and the economic yield regarding climate change due to consequences of the draught stress. For the prediction of the climate change and occurrence of the draught many simulation models were recorded, it’s very necessary to improve the crop against the draught stress which ultimately limits the production and the productivity of the crop.

Maize is the 3rd most important crop in the Bihar next to rice and wheat. It is grown throughout the year in one or other part of state. Due to continuous cropping of maize and other factors like improper use of fertilizers, pesticides and climate change, the disease problem has increased in tremendous proportion. Almost all parts of the maize plant are susceptible to numerous diseases that considerably reduce the yield and quality of the crop.
