Granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF)-producing lung cancer induces severe inflammation and a high white blood cell (WBC) count and is associated with poor prognosis. A recent case of G-CSF-producing lung adenocarcinoma showed high expression of programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) and was treated with pembrolizumab as first-line therapy, which was extremely effective. We hypothesized that G-CSF-producing lung cancers are associated with high PD-L1 expression.

Blood biomarkers are increasingly used to diagnose, guide therapy in, and risk-stratify communityacquired pneumonia (CAP) patients in emergency departments (EDs). How pre-analytic factors affect these markers’ initial levels in this population is unknown.

Inflammation and oxidative stress can contribute to the development and progression of heart failure. This study aimed to investigate the association between inflammatory and oxidative stress markers in dogs with congestive heart failure (CHF). Associations between the disease severity marker N-terminal pro-B-type natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) and markers of inflammation and oxidative stress were also determined.

The first case presented at Neonatal Intensive Care Unit with an 18-hour-history of irritability, vomiting, and abdominal distension. With high white blood cell count and C-reactive protein level, the baby was initially diagnosed with neonatal sepsis. The ultrasound performed on day 3 after hospitalization found peritonitis but not seen appendicitis.

The LI was measured through the proviral load (PVL) set–point and white blood cells (WBC) counts. The goals of this work were to gain insight into the contribution of SNPs (bovine 50KSNP panel) on LI variability and to identify genomics regions underlying this trait.

In this study, we evaluated the lipocalin-2 (LIP2) and syndecan-4 (SYN4) levels in children who were hospitalized for radiologically confirmed CAP in order to differentiate bacterial from viral infection. The results regarding the LIP2 and SYN4 diagnostic outcomes were compared with the white blood cell (WBC) count and C reactive protein (CRP) levels.

Chronic inflammation emerges as a feature of the pathogenesis of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in experimental models. Alterations of circulating cell subsets have been observed in patients with PAH. We aimed to assess associations of the white blood cell count with disease severity and outcome in patients with PAH.

The patient, a 22-year-old female, was diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (an aggressive non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma). The patient had completed 6 cycles of R-CHOP (from March 2018 to July 2018). After that, the patient was re-examined regularly monthly (manifested with moderate and hypochromic anemia, bone marrow aspiration was negative for malignancy). In November 2019, the complete blood cell (CBC) findings were as follows: White blood cell (WBC) count 81 x109 /liter, neutrophils 7%, lymphocytes 22%, monocytes 2%, blasts 69%; red blood cell count 2.6 x 106 /ml, hemoglobin 7.

The presentation of a leukemoid reaction in cervical cancers is rare. A leukemoid reaction is defined as leukocytosis associated with a cause outside the bone marrow, with the white blood cell count (WBC) exceeding 50*109 /L. Two cervical cancers presenting with leukemoid reactions were previously reported.

Haematological parameters in ten apparently healthy adult horses at Mountain research Centre for Sheep and Goat, SKUAST Kashmir were examined to establish their reference values. The mean red blood cell (RBC) counts, packed cell volume (PCV), haemoglobin (Hb) concentration, white blood cell (WBC) counts, mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular haemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular haemoglobin concentration (MCHC) were found to be comparable with the normal values. The mean absolute values of neutrophil, eosinophil, lymphocyte, monocyte and basophil were also within the normal range.
