Dasypyrum villosum is an important wild species of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and harbors many desirable genes that can be used to improve various traits of wheat. Compared with other D. villosum accessions, D. villosum#4 still remains less studied.

Agropyron cristatum (L.) Gaertn. (2n = 4x = 28; genomes PPPP) is a wild relative of common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and provides many desirable genetic resources for wheat improvement. However, there is still a lack of reference genome and transcriptome information for A. cristatum, which severely impedes functional and molecular breeding studies.

This study concerns the evaluation of 19 vegetative and reproductive characters (7 qualitative and 12 quantitative) among 45 accessions belonging to wild and cultivated tetraploid Triticum L. species: T. turgidum L., T. durum Desf., T. dicoccum (Schrank) Schrebler and T. dicoccoides (Koern. ex Aschers. et Graebn.) Aaronsohn, occurring in Iran.

In this study the aspartate aminotransferase (AAT, E.C. 2.6.1.1), phosphoglucomutase (PGM, E.C. 5.4.2.2) and phosphoglucose isomerase (PGI, E.C. 5.3.1.9) isozyme patterns of nine different diploid and tetraploid wild wheat species belonging to the Aegilops L. and Triticum L. genera were analysed electrophoretically, using horizontal starch gel and non-denaturating polyacrylamide gel (only for AAT).

A field experiment was conducted to determine the effect of wild oat (Avena fatua) densities on wheat (Triticum aestivum) yield, its components and protein content under varying nitrogen regimes, at the Agricultural Research Farm, North West Frontier Province Agricultural University, Peshawar, Pakistan, during winter 2004-5.

The lowest ET value was calculated for 2,4-D amine and the highest for florasulam + flumetsulam. It is therefore concluded that wild radish in wheat should be controlled by herbicides if the density is between 1.8 and 2.0 plants m-2.
