  • he study uses Best Track Data in the Western North Pacific region from 1961 to 2020. The wind speed fields of all TCs over the coastal zones are calculated using a semi-empirical model with a square grid of 0.05° resolution. The results show that the frequencies of TCs over the coastal zones decrease during El Niño years, whilethe TC intensities increase significantly compared to those in Neutral years. Meanwhile, TC intensities over all coastal zones during La Niña years, and some coastal zones during El Niño years, decrease significantly compared to those in Neutral years.

  • On the basis of the data source of the 10 m wind field above the sea with the hourly frequency and during the period of 41 years (1979–2019) by the NCEP CFRS, we used the probability distribution functions to study the distribution law of wind speed in the waters of Ly Son island. Specifically, four distribution functions (normal distribution, gamma distribution, Weibull distribution and extreme value distribution) were used to estimate the characteristic parameters of the shape and proportion of the wind distribution in the waters of Ly Son island.

  • Temperature and wind on the sea surface are factors affecting the development of coral reefs in the seawaters. The research results show that the warming of sea water under the condition of weak wind field is considered a major threat to the bleaching of coral reefs in the sea areas of the Ninh Thuan - Binh Thuan provinces.

  • The process of evaporation is influenced by a number of factors, the most common and important meteorological parameters affecting evaporation are solar radiation, temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and atmospheric pressure. There are number of models for the estimation of evaporation developed by investigators in different fields of study. The interrelated factors are incorporated into various formulae for estimating evaporation. Due to complex interactions between the components of the land-plantatmospheric systems the reliable estimation of evaporation are extremely difficult.

  • Testing of agricultural sprinklers is necessary to find the optimum field operating conditions with minimum cost while satisfying design water distribution criteria. In the present study two twin-nozzle agricultural sprinklers were tested in field under ten different operating pressures ranging from 1.6 kg/cm² to 3.5 kg/cm². In each experiment sprinkler discharge rate, nozzle pressure, radius of throw, and water distribution pattern around the sprinkler were observed. The average discharge coefficients of the two sprinkler nozzles were determined.

  • In North West Plain Zone (NWPZ), where the hot, dry wind is frequent during grain filling, wheat cultivars suffer from loss of grain weight because of low grain filling rate. A field study was carried out under normal sown conditions to evaluate the phenological variation in forty wheat genotypes. Significant genotypic differences were observed for most of the traits. WH 1105, WH 1138 and HD 2967 had the highest grain yield per plant 1150.0, 1136.7 and 1103.3 g/plot respectively.

  • Sugarcane (Saccharum officinarum L.) is one of the world’s most important cash crop cultivated in more than 80 countries around the globe. There are several impediments which contribute to low cane yield and one of the factors is plant diseases. The crop is mostly constrained by diseases of fungal, bacterial and viral origin. Bacterial Red stripe/top rot incited by Acidovorax avenae subsp. Avenae once considered to be the minor disease is gaining importance these days. The disease mostly occurs in two forms i.e.
